Phins spoil Favre's debut 8/24/08 AP Miami Florida- "This feels great" said Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter "We waited so long last year it just feels good to get number 1 under our belt". The Dolphins suprised everyone but themselves with their 28 - 21 victory over Brett Favre and the NY Jets. Miami held the Jets to just 7 points in the first half as QB Chad Pennington went 17 - 25 with a TD Pass and a 2 yard scramble for a TD. Miami also scored on a Joey Porter forced fumble which he then returned for a TD. Ronnie Brown also added a TD run on 68 yards rushing. The Jets made it exciting in the second half with Favre tossing 2 TD passes to Jericho Cotchery. Forceing Miami to Punt on 2 staright 4th quater drives the Favre drove the Jets up feild with no time outs only to throw an INT to Jason Allen to seal the deal and give the Dolphins and coach Sparano his first regular season victory.
