Freespirit
Written By: LovesLight
I am free
Don't look at my chest.
Because I am me
not this crest.

I joined for beliefs,
and that's what I preach
I shall not whine
about who I can't teach.

The rules they have laid down
are what I believe
for if they weren't
I could always leave.

But yet I stay
because I agree.
So how can you say
that I am not free?

I made this -choice-
It was my -right- to -choose-
I did this -on my own-
no freedom did I lose.

Upon awakening, I was told
"Seek a house that best suits you
but only if you want"
This is what I was taught to do.

This crest was not forced upon me
A prisoner I am not.
I joined because it -suited- me,
This you have forgot.

"Come be free" I hear you say
and by this I am puzzled,
I venture to where the "free" meet
Tis only then that I am muzzled.

Hypocritical prejudices'
"Keep those House members in line!"
I simply ask How is your freedom
any different than mine?

You tell me you're free
to which I jest.
Freedom comes from the heart,
not the absence of a crest.

This is who I am
without a doubt.
Look at me now
as I stand proud and shout:

*I* have something to say
and you all need to hear it...
So listen closely,
I too am a freespirit.
