(Abandoned Pregnant Dog Rescue)

What is Dogs2rescuE?

I rescue unwanted and abandoned pregnant dogs. Why you might be asking. Well, I just can not stand the thought of these poor abandoned moms, scared to death at a dog pound, in a strange place, surrounded by strange dogs knowing they must find a safe place to have their puppies. I know there are countless unwanted dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. So why would I add to the over population? When I get the moms they are due any day. It could be very dangerous to spay her and abort the puppies when she is that far along. Plus I can not bring myself to kill puppies. Believe me, I've gotten enough attacks from people who condemn me for doing this kind of rescue. I just do not like playing GOD and deciding who is going to live and who is going to die. I wish we lived in a perfect world and no living thing or person was unwanted but the reality of it is we don't live in a perfect world but we can all work at trying to make it a better world.

I get pregnant dogs that are scheduled to be destroyed at pounds because no one wants them. I adopt the moms, bring them home and give them a safe place to have their babies. It is so sad when I go to get the moms at the pounds. They are way in the back of their cage, tail between their legs and shaking in fear. I bring them home and within a few short minutes of loving them, they start to lose their fear. Next thing you know they are jumping in my lap and licking my face. Yuck, doggie slobber. <grin> The moms now know they are safe and their puppies will be safe.

I set them up in my laundry room with a bed, nutritious food, plenty of water and love. As the pups get bigger, I will move them and their mom to my 3 car garage that is fully insulated with big dog runs and special puppy heating pads if needed. I am with the moms all during delivery. Sometimes I have to assist but most of the time they do just fine. A few times puppies were born than quit breathing. I quickly gave them mouth to mouth and got them breathing again. I have also had to help pull puppies out of their mother. They were big pups and mom just couldn't push hard enough. It is a bloody and smelly mess but well worth it to see those cute little lives enter this world.

When pups are old enough I get every one of them their puppy shots and I get them wormed. Then I get the moms heart worm tested, up to date on shots, wormed and spayed. Then I start to screen people who wish to adopt. Yes, I even get the moms adopted out. I give dog care and health information and basic obedience training information packets with each dog and puppy I adopt out. I explain to new owners what is involved in owning a dog and what to expect. I get letters and pictures of my pups from the new owners. I can't tell you how excited I am. I run around showing the pictures and letters to my family. Oh, they already know I'm nuts. hahaha

I teach the puppies some obedience commands before I adopt them out and I teach the moms how to heel among other commands. I clean dog runs, scoop doggie doo doo, feed and water dogs every day. It is a lot of work but well worth it when I sit down and have 6, 8 or 10 puppies in my lab all wanting to be hugged and kissed. I love to see those little tails just wagging like crazy when they see me. Because of all the attention I give them, they are not hyper. They are calm and very laid back. People are amazed at how calm and smart my puppy rescues are. That is all due to love.

If you are one of those people who look down on me because I won't kill the puppies before they are born, don't blame me. Blame the irresponsible pet owners who wouldn't spay or neuter their dogs. I am here to clean up their messes and mistakes. I hope that one day my services will not be needed until then I am here for the moms and pups.

Yes, I am a positive and up beat person. I tend to look at the positive and focus on that rather than the negative. Because of this I am always a happy person in a good mood despite all the cruelty I have seen. Each of us has the power to change how we feel. You decide. Do you want to enjoy life or go through life being miserable and making those around you miserable? I love life and even the little things like sitting in the backyard and feeling the breeze on my face. I especially love hugging puppies! Enjoy life. I do. Above all spay and neuter your pets.

We need your help now. Donations are way down.  No money means dogs DIE at shelters because rescues don't have the money to get them out and pay for vet care.
