In Cartoons

If you did not have a teddy bear, by any chance, I know you've seen some on TV while growing up.
The 80s was flooded with the cutest bear cartoons ever!!
Check out my list of childhood cartoons with the adorable bears as the main stars of the show~*
Do you remember any??

Care Bears
     Does this look familiar?

In the picture, there's the yellow Funshine Bear and the brown Tender Heart Bear.
They are part of the Care Bear family. Living in a city constructed on clouds, called Care-A-Lot, the caring bears look out for the children. They are warned by the Care-O-Meter if any of the children are feeling down or in trouble. Using Cloudmobiles and Rainbow Rollers as transportation to Earth, they make the kids happy with the energy that comes out from their little tummies. These symbols on their stomach also reflect each Care Bear's unique personality and represent the different type of energy they have.

They also have cousins, living in the Forest of Feelings, that get together to fight the evil enemies. When they all join forces, the greatest beam, Care Bear Stare can be made to spread good around.

Two movies were made while the program aired on TV from 1985 to 1988.

Gummi Bears
These are Grammi, Cubbi, Gruffi, Sunni, Tummi and Zummi Gummi, from left to right. They are the stars of Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears.

Adventures of the Gummi Bears was produced by Disney and it aired through 1985 to 1989. My first impression of these bear characters was Robbin Hood - living in the mythical Gummi Glen forest, helping the good and punishing the bad.

Like any other good guys in comics, they also have super powers to fight against giants and ogres. The difference is that they need to drink the potion called Gummi Berry Juice and Zummi is the only one with the secret recipe. This potion boost up their strength and jumping power, which is very useful in the forests.

They try to keep a low profile from the enemies in the nearby kingdom, while helping humans. But when the enemies discover their exitence, they have to protect the recipe of Gummi Berry Juice from going into the wrong hands.

Winnie the Pooh
Now I know that all of you know this bear. Let me introduce the all-time-favorite Winnie the Pooh!

The original story of Winnie the Pooh was wriiten by A. A. Milene, a famous British playwright and journalist. He was inspired in 1921 by his baby son, Christopher Robin. The stories were based on the collection of his son's stuffed animals and the surrounding of their farm in East Sussex.

The picture on the left is the Disney version of Winnie the Pooh that we are used to. (Starting on the left: Rabbit, Piglet, Pooh, Tigger, Roo on Eeyore and Kanga.) The first Disney film of Winnie the Pooh was released in 1966 and the love for the bear was spread worldwide. Story books, educational videos and TV series have been made. Also, they release a full-length original feature film in 2000 named "The Tigger Movie."

Nowadays, the classic version of Pooh, illustrated by E. H. Sheperd are back in demand.

Paddington Bear
Have you seen this one before? I have, when I was 8 and living in Britain.

Paddington is a bear that normally wears a blue duffle coat, a red shapeless hat. He sometimes wears Wellington boots as well. He used to live with his Aunt Lucy in Darkest Peru until she had to go live in the Home for Reitired Bears in Lima. He sailed across the ocean and arrived on Paddington Station in London.

Mr. and Mrs. Brown were the ones who found him in the station wearing a label that said, "Please Look After This Bear. Thank You." They just had to bring him home with them to live their children, Jonathan and Judy. NAd that is where the episodes take place.

The picture is from the first TV series made of Paddington Bear in 1975. A three-dimensional puppet and two-dimensional backgrounds were used, which were designed by Ivor Wood. in the 80s, the illustrations were done by another artist, David McKee.
