THE TEMPLE PRESIDENT

Once a year, on March 21st, we elect our Temple President.  Anyone over the age of 16 can run, as well as vote.  The Temple President has a variety of roles to fulfill, and is a very necessary part of our Temple Community.

OUR TEMPLE COMMUNITY

The Pantheist Temple of Hamilton is made up of a Community, much like a church has it's congregation.  However, Community members are not led by any ordained gurus, nor are their spiritual beliefs interpreted to them through scriptures.  We meet on a regular basis to discuss and express our spirituality, as well as vote on important Temple and Pantheist decisions.  We offer each other support and comfort, and provide a great community for Pantheists throughout the whole Hamilton-Wentworth region.

ROLES OF THE PRESIDENT

1) Mediate discussion and debates during Community meetings.

2) Ensure that all operations of the Temple, including votes, are done fairly and ethically.

3) Manage the day-to-day operations of the Temple, including the financial affairs.

4) Organize fundraisers, community charity events, and recruiting drives.

5) Lead the Community during Union and Funeral ceremonies, as well as Naming and Coming of Age rituals.  The President also leads the Community during the two Equinox's and organizes the Perseids celebrations.

6) Acts as a confidant and helping hand to those people who need to talk to someone or who need spiritual help.

Through a collaborative effort, the Temple Community was able to create the Fundamentals of Pantheism, as well as a series of ceremonies and rituals to enrich our spiritual experience.  We debated heavily and took votes on every article of the Fundamentals of Pantheism, thus creating a standard which is acceptable to everyone.  Nothing is incorporated into our system without a two-thirds majority vote from all adult members (16 years of age and over).
