After one term as Great Lakes District Supervisor, our Founder Aimee Semple McPherson and her son, Dr. Rolf K. McPherson called the Courtneys to headquarters where Howard served as General Supervisor and Director of Missions for the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel and Vaneda served as his private secretary and office manager.  They served at headquarters for more than 53 years--30 years of which he also served as vice-president.  He then became General Supervisor Emeritus and Board of Directors Emeritus of ICFG.

During his years at headquarters, Dr. Courtney pastored the headquarters church, Angelus Temple, Los Angeles, for a total of seven years and ministered for four decades on the church-owned radio station, KFSG.  He has often mentioned that this radio ministry was partial payment to the station as the instrument used of the Lord to bring the Foursquare Gospel to his home with spiritual life to his mother and family.  He also served on the faculty of LIFE Bible College for 29 years.

His Interdenominational activities included leadership in the National Association of Evangelicals, the Pentecostal Fellowship of North America, the Pentecostal World Conference and the Charismatic Congress.  He served on the Advisory Committee of the Pentecostal World Conference for 27 years which included the chairmanship of the conference held in Jerusalem, Israel, 1961.  During those years with the world conference, Vaneda served as their recording  secretary. 

Besides his extensive ministry in the U.S. and overseas, he has authored numerous tracts, articles and books.  Two of the latter are on the Holy Spirit, entitled: 
(1) "The Baptism in the Holy Spirit" and 
(2) "The Vocal Gifts of the Spirit". 
His sixty-Sunday  Morning sermons preached in Angelus Temple and on TBN TV on the subject of the 23rd Psalm are also published under the title of:
"The Lord is My Shepherd."

Dr. Courtney is also listed in "Who's Who in America."

Vaneda has served closely with him in all phases of ministry through these more than 68 years.  For the past 10 years this has involved "Team-Teaching and Preaching."
