I was only suppose to have him for a foster dog, but I fell in love with him and adopted him from the North Texas Humane Society. Above is his picture taken there. He was a web baby. He is a standard male and is two years old.
When I first picked him up they told me his name was Rex. Well he just would not respond to his name at all. I didn't think he looked like a Rex anyway so I decided to name him Rudy and add the Rex on the end for comforts sake. Rudyrex. How did I get Bu Bu out of the name Rudyrex? Well...... after time, I just started to call him Budybex, then shortining it even more I started to call him Bu Bu or Bu. Now he responds 100% to Bu Bu.
I wasn't sure when I brought him home if I had made the right decision. Now I know I made the right decision. When I first brought Bu home he walked around 24hrs a day with his tail between his legs. I think he must of been abused in his former home. (Mind you, I will NEVER raise a hand to ANY of my animals.) For every time I use a stern voice with him he immediatly drops to the floor, rolls on his back and looks like he is trying to brace himself for a blow. Anytime he does this I make him stand up and tell him it is OK, but still use a stern voice. In four months he rarely does this any more.
He also was disinterested in toys of any kind or any type of play with Jackson. I also noticed that anytime on a walk, his tail was always tucked between his legs while Jackson's was straight up and wagging all the time. I am pleased to report that Bu is adjusting to his new home. He plays with all kinds of toys. (He really likes the plush ones.) Jackson and Bu usually have two bouts of weenie wrestling a night, sometimes involving Mommy splittling them up because they are so wild. lol As for the tail! It wags from sun-up to sundown and Oh what a greeting I get when I get home from work. He gets so excited he can hardly contain himself.
So did I make a mistake? No! I took a life and saved it. I turned his little life around and have given him a forever home. I love my Bu Bu very much. |
