I'm so fuking lazy [note added later: notice the spelling of 'fucking']. I mean, I've pretty much nothing to do, but I'm too lazy to play games even. Ironically, I'm not too lazy to post this... I've definitely got to work on some self-control. I said I'd update this every day (assuming, of course, I get PC-access every day), yet I became too lazy to do it. But why should I do it anyway. Doesn't help or anything. Nobody reads it, It's purposeless. But I continue doing it. Why? I have no idea. I've nothing important to say. Why would anything I say be important to anyone anyway?

I've been doing pretty much nothing in the past few days other than browsing some forums. Well, I guess it pretty much proves something. I'm never good at doing the whole of something. I could have a really cool idea, I'd start doing it, and then I'd stop halfway, because I'm too lazy. But, on the other hand, I am able to do that thing, it's just that I'm too lazy to do so. For example, I can make modules on Neverwinter Nights. I'm not an expert in scripting, but I know enough to make a pretty cool module. And I don't lack any ideas either. But I'm just lazy. Same with programming. I know C++, Perl (somewhat), PHP, etc. But I'm too lazy to make something. Or, I start doing it and stop midway. So the only thing I can do is help other people with this stuff. Or, like Magic: the Gathering rules. I know the rules pretty well for a person who's started playing about half an year ago. So I sit around all day in the official forums, answering questions. (along with a few other people who do the same; most of them are DCI judges, however) And basically the best I can do is sit around in forums helping other people. At least I help people. It's more purposeful than this or anything. And, I can't even make the site useful without at least PHP/SQL support or something. Not that it's not possible, but I'd need something for content, say, something I created, which I do not have. The download section is laughable, and Google won't even index the goddamn site. (as to why that is, I have no idea).

Oh well, bro'll be gone in a couple of days, so I'd have PC free all day. I hope I get bored enough then to actually make something useful.

Too lazy to update...

17 August 2005

Been playing a few games these days (which surprisingly I did rarely this summer. Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines just rules. I don't know if I've ever seen such a cool game of this kind. I'm also playing Dungeon Siege 2. It's somewhat like a typical RPG. In fact, they've removed some things that made DS1 unique, so now it feels like just another hack-and-slash.

Games make me reeeally lazy. I'll be off playing BEL just now...

Touching on what I mentioned about a month ago, this site lacks purpose. And I know not what purpose to give it. I've no idea at all. Yet, without any purpose this site is meaningless. I mean, what, I have this semi-blog thing. I have a downloads section with a single file. I have a links section with 7-8 links, most of which are pretty famous. And I have a fun section with a few "fun" things. And that's it. Pretty useless to the average surfer who could stumble across the page. And yet, where would they? Only places I've linked this page are forums and such. I need this site to be of some use... Somehow.

And yet I'm lazy. I wanna play some cool old game or something. Wonder if the Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines CD still works... I rather doubt it, it's so scratched and covered with dust. But I hope it works. No, I don't wanna play commandos 2 or 3 or whatever other sequels are out. They suck. I mean, compared to BEL. Such a cool game. Exactly my type of game - I like games where you sneak. Thief was another nice one, but didn't hook me up as BEL did. AND, I hope it would run on XP. I'm too lazy to restart in Win98 and besides, 98 is sorta screwed up right now, I dunno how much it works.

Ah, finally, after a few hours's developing and testing, it now works perfectly, the entry lock script (see below for details :). Many many thanks to this article by Jim Ley, without which I couldn't have done the XML HTTP part. Now, I've made some major changes to the site (see header and footer, some sections updated). I now need to work on the Tasks section...

Still too lazy to change the site design, plus didn't have much time, and I've no idea what the new one would be. Gotta get some idea first, and then my own enthusiasm will defeat my laziness. Oh, and I saw some neat CSS tricks so I'll use those. Like, custom tooltips with CSS, no JavaScript at all! :) And must attempt to counter the GeoCities ads, if possible...

Moved old stuff to the archive. You can access it by /news/archive/200x/month/ where x is the year, month is the name of the month. (right now only october 04, january and july 05) Will make links to it, but am planning to change the site design, so will do that afterwards.
