Campaign Rules
As you may have gathered already, we have a total of ten voting board members, whom we elect at District Convention. They are as follows: District Governor, Secretary, Treasurer, Editor, and six Lt. Governors, one for each of Florida's six divisions. These individuals meet regularly (usually between six-eight times a year) to make decisions on behalf of the whole district.
The purpose of these pages is not to provide campaign advice: Even if that were the goal, District Bylaws forbid voting board members from aiding candidates. Rather, this site is dedicated to the idea of helping you make an informed decision as to whether or not to run, and giving you the tools necessary to prepare should you be elected to the position you campaign for.
Taking on one of the roles is not something you should do lightly, or just because you don't think anyone else is running for an office. If you are elected, you are expected to fulfill the duties of the office which you will then hold. This is as much to your benefit as it is to anyone else's: You get more out of the experience if you work harder.
Included on this page are a ton of resources. Section 1 contains resources regarding candidate rules and officer duties as outlined in our governing documents. It is to give you an idea of what is "officially" required of anyone who is running.
Section 2 contains a number of resources ment to better acquaint you with the District, as some of you may have limited experience outside of your own club or division. These will help give you a good foundation as to what the district is all about.
