Johann Adam always went by Adam in the USA. Adam immigrated to the USA with two sons from his first marriage, Johann (John) and Andreas (Andrew), his second wife, Maria (or Mary) and two young sons, Michael and George, from this second marriage. They arrived in New York City on May 31, 1881 aboard the Steam Ship Weser. The S.S. Weser had steamed out of Bremen on May 18th. The Weser was a large ship, carrying over 1300 passengers this trip. I don't know the maiden name of this second wife Maria, but in the passenger list, after Maria (age 36), but before the children, is listed a Maria Guntner, age 60. Perhaps this is Adam's mother-in-law? Also in the passenger list, just after the Blaha children and one other family of three named Reber, is the family of Josef Guntner, age 38, with his wife and three children.

At least by 1883, Adam and his family had made their way to Minnesota. They family settled in St. James Township, Watonwan County, Minnesota.
