| Cooking in the Kitchen | |||||||||||||||
| If you live in a modern apartment or house you have a stove and hopefully an oven. It you have that plus some pots, pans and a spoon or two your on your way! The kitchen in my first apartment in Freiburg Germany only had two burners and there was no oven, also Maria, my girlfriend, lived many such apartments in Munich. You dont need much in order to cook, but the biggest tool you can have is a little experience. Also, as I stated earlier, if you can read you can cook. Of course the biggest thing you'll need if your starting to learn about cooking is patience. Dont get discouraged if something doesn't work out right the first time. Practice makes perfect. Living in Germany I've had quite an opportunity to try different types of food from many different countries. I've had fun trying them all but I must warn you that if you come to Germany save yourself the time and money and dont go to a Chinese resturaunt. The terrible food found there is one reason why I learned how to cook chinese on my own. Many of my classmates came from India and I also learned a few things from them which I'll share as well. German food is more diverse than people think and is really quite tasty. It is true that it is not very spicy, but if you cook it yourself you can make it as hot as you want! |
