VAMPIRES
You have obviously visited here because you have an interest in my kind, but like mortals, even though we share many traits, there are also differences between us. Some need only the *little drink* to sustain them, leaving their victim almost unaware.  Others kill selectively, seeking out only the evil doer as their prey.  Still others find those that seek death for one reason or another and offer  them the release they yearn for.  A few despise their need for blood and try to survive on animals rather than mortals. And some kill for the sheer pleasure... for the joy of the hunt and the terror of the hunted..

First of all, let me dispell a few of the old fables regarding our kind.  We do not all go around dressed like Bela Lugosi.  In actual fact, as we have almost unlimited funds, our wardrobes are quite extensive, depending on the individual.  My beloved Armand, for example, wears a thing only once and then discards it. Lestat is always dressed impeccably.. sometimes quite the dandy.  Louis can look devastating, when he takes the time, but clothes are not important to him.. Dennis has a preference for leather pants and soft cotton shirts.  David is the eternal English gentleman, right down to his tie. As a matter of fact, a cravat would not surprise me in the least.  As for me, I think I am the despair of Armand, most comfortable in a pair of well worn jeans and a linen shirt. So, enough about the image of black capes hiding our faces.  Oh, and we do not turn into bats either... nasty, disgusting things.

Let's see, what is next? Oh yes, the mirror myth. Of course we can see our reflections . Do you really think that being as vain as some of us are, we would miss the opportunity to admire ourselves?

Churches and religious symbols... The roof will not cave in if we enter a church, nor  are we prevented from doing so by fear or any invisible barrier.  Many of us believe in God, and theology is often a heated discussion between us.  Yes, I have been know to pray, in times of despair. So don't think that waving a cross in front of his face is going to deter a hungry vampire.

The phrase *You are what you eat*, can be true to an extent. If we feed from a drunk, we will get a little drunk.. the same applies to a victim that might be high on drugs. ..but any illness carried in the blood does not influence us. A wonderful benefit of being a vampire... you would never have another cold.

Sunlight, it is true, can be extremely painful to us and even fatal.  Only some of the Ancients, and Lestat, who is strengthened by the blood of Akasha, can tolerate it, and even he has been  burned. .. but the darkness is far more welcoming to our kind.  The night embraces those of us who use its velvet shadows to hunt .

Of course, we are far faster and stronger than mortals,  and there are times we must consciously slow our speed or  reduce our strength, in order to not frighten them off ... because they are not all prey to us.  Many of us enjoy their company and look forward to reading their words on our various sites, or interacting with them at Le Jardin Sauvage, which is our home site.

Well, enough for now. If you are curious to find out more about us... try asking.
Dying is a wild night and a new road.
