APRIL 2000
Front/Back

On this one, I wanted to give it a surreal - futuristict look, at the same
time set the image of Spring in the viewers mind. April's ended up being
my most popular design to date. This one was designed entirely in Photoshop,
using various filters and gradient techniques. Some of the images in
the spheres were created in Illustrator, from a mass "branding"
campaign I ventured on. I was determined to give this startup, something
of a corporate identity. So in the following months, you will notice
reoccuring elements, common to all the FTP fliers.

For May's, I wanted to try a new approach. PROPAGANDA art. I
felt that, since TRANCE music was hitting the area like a revolution, this
would be a good style to use. I had just found a new site that
featured quite a bit of old propaganda art, from Communist China(probably
late 30's early 40's), and imported a picture from that site and used it as
a background. For the back... I just used a font which resembled
Russian text, and threw in some horizontal TV screen lines(even though you
can't seem then in the back panel JEPG. The headphones were an
imported element from the FTP logo. This flier, unfortunately,
was never printed.

JUNE 2000 Front/Back

Within the confusion of trying
to find a new venue for FTP, I was told to come up with another flier. It
ended up that the club would still be around for another few weeks. Just
long enough to run more month's DJ lineup. This one was tricky...
I couldn't come up with ANYTHING... I guess my brain was not working or something...
but I spent so much time on the back, that I didn't give mysetf anytime to
really create anything for the front panel. Regardless to say,
I was not happy with this one at all. To me, the back looks like
somebody vomited on it... but... it did it's job, I guess.

JUNE
2000(teaser) Front/Back
(Hit the "BACK" button on your browser to return to this page)
Since the lease was running out on the current venue, Club FTP was in the
process of relocating. May's flier was now turned into a "teaser"
to promote this new location, and to announce the opening of a new cafe which
was going to be located in San Francisco. The front panel pretty
much stayed the same, however, it was agreed that the image of the clubbers
be blacked out. I reluctantly changed this, but in the end, it
DID look better than the May version. I also manipulated the backgound
a bit and threw in a few alien heads with the protestors. After
all, a flier just isn't a flier without alien heads. I think they
worked too, as this was another one of my more popular designs.

July
2000 Poster
(Hit the "BACK" button on your browser to return to this page)
In anticipation of the new venue, we wanted to try something new. It
was suggested that I create a poster version of the DJ lineup. So...
I threw some elements together, and came up with what you see here. It
may look incomplete... and that's because it is. The new venue
never opened, and I found that out half way through the design. I
would have loved to have seen this printed as a large format poster. If
I would have finished it, I think it could have been one of my best. Perhaps
I will try to finish it in the future. With the new techniques
I've aquired in the last 4 months, it will probably look pretty good. We'll
see.
