Anika's Fashion Show

Our little girl is growing up...into a bigger baby.  She is blessed with many friends who come from far and near.  Because of the generosity of all her admirers, her wardrobe has expanded to the point where she felt comfortable giving a fashion show.  She thought a virtual show would benefit her vast fan club.  Our apologies to those whose tangible thoughtfulness is not featured in this show.  We have hired several account executives and opened warehouse space to accomodate the huge influx of materials flowing in to our daughter.  We, her parents, are touched and appreciate the kindness of those who have sent so many gifts.

Ooh-la-la!  C'est manifique!  Anika is ready for croissants and any amount of sass from a sommelier in this sunny, colorful beret ($240) from Yves Saint Laurent and our friends Pam and Daniel, on a "scholarship" (i.e. surfing tour) of southwestern France. Anika takes it all in while sporting this stunning afternoon dress ($650) decorated with cheerful wildflowers and light blue ribbons.  Accompanying frilly hat ($220) ads an elegant touch to this remarkable ensemble, compliments of Ralph Lauren and her honorary aunt, Jannette Hoskinson.
This comfortable and yet tastefully elegant Calvin Klein jumper ($835) bursts with color, magnificently decorated with vivid pink flowers, thanks to Jennifer and David Luft, Doug's advisor. Got Milk? This breezy Gucci sleep shirt ($180) provides the reassurance of style even in trying times.  Courtesy of Kristina Singh.
"No more Arnold Schönberg or Richard Wagner!  I want Bach."  What can we say? She's just an old-fashioned girl in this fun beachwear collection by Tommy Hilfiger, courtesy of Sandra Dotson.  Note the cactus on the southwest style leggings ($350) and the absorbant and marvelously chic spit-towel ($90).  She reclines easily on a supremely comfortable lounge chair ($1250) festooned with coolly rational contrasting shapes and colors while listening on her Sony headphones ($150).  The easygoing elegance of the pacifier ($110) rounds out this remarkable set.  Parenting is not an exhausting avocation!  It has its rewards.  Take for example, snuggling close to this cheery, bright yellow (also available in light green) sleep suit ($450) from Old Navy and Jannette Hoskinson.  Short sleeves and a snap-bottom make this light piece a welcome addition to any wardrobe.  The Giorgio Armani designer diapers ($35) peeking out the bottom make mobile reassurance into an arresting fashion statement.  Anika's father wears a fine designer Valentino T-shirt ($65).  Bed linens by Gucci ($2350).

We hope you have enjoyed this fashion show.  You are probably wondering how Anika is able to wear such fine designer clothes at such outrageous prices.  It's very simple, really.  She has people around her who treasure her more than anything money can buy.  In our eyes, she's worth more than any of these designer trinkets.
O.K., that didn't answer the question, but it did stall for time while simultaneously making a distracting play for the heart-strings.  Let's just say we have friends who have their priorities strait...and, well, Anika has a father with a sense of humor.  Maybe these clothes didn't cost quite that much.

Anika has many new visitors

Robin Bradley Kristin and Sammy Wise

John Hoon Lee
Bernie and Kevin
Roberta Custer Roberta

Eveline Ashton, Doug's Mom.  She bravely came to visit for a week from Massachussetts, risking the threat of terrorist attack.  We were very glad to have her here.
She cooked and got our car's brakes fixed (the lines were corroded through), as well as got new tires--a good thing because the tires were almost ten years old and the rubber on them was starting to separate.  Doug bikes everywhere, so hardly uses the car himself.  But we do need it to take Anika for check-ups and around town. More importantly, we had the pleasure of having her company.
Anika likes Sheri.  October 28, 2001. Dave Wise and six-month old Sammy Wise come by for a visit on Sunday, October 28.  Is Anika trying to hold his hand?

Sammy chows down.  He's a growing boy.
Sammy makes himself comfortable.  "Hey, isn't there a Charger game on today?  Got any munchies?"
