The laptop was tested to make sure the angles were correct to allow the glovebox door to close. Alittle adjustment was necessary, but none the less it was close and quickly worked very well.

More holes were needed in the back of the glovebox to accomodate the wires as well as the back left corner of the computer as the glovebox curved forward in the left corner. The holes have been modified more since the pictures.

Next I proceded to wire which there really are not any pictures of that as they wouldn't really mean a whole lot anyways. I modified a usb cable to use the 5 volts from the usb bus on the computer to trigger the accessory power cable from the battery which runs the computer's charger, ac inverter, amplifier turn on wire, and lilliput power.

I had to use a reed relay to throw an automotive relay so as not to pull too much from the usb bus as it can only supply 100mA max to any one device.

I then ran the antenas and usb cables from the tray/glovebox to the devices which are mostly housed in the old radio compartment (see picture below).

The laptop was installed onto the platform using velcro, and the wires were fastened to the tray with zipties.

There is a 4 port powered usb hub on top, with the Sound Blaster MP3 + USB next, and the Hauppauge WinTv USB TV/FM tuner on bottom. My Gps mouse is also plugged into the hub, leaving one port for future expansion. The switches over to the left are for ignition override and power button.

My system is set with a normally closed relay simulating a "normally closed laptop lid." This makes the computer think that anytime the ignition is off the computer lid is closed, in essence holding it in standby until I open the lid. The override simply opens the circuit alowing me to turn the computer on while the car is off, or keep it on when I turn the car off (or go into remote start so that I can remove the key and go inside a store for a minute) The power button's value is obvious.
