| At the Short N Sweet Ranch we encourage people to learn to ride bareback. Riding without a saddle will teach you to feel & move with the horse. Sitting in a saddle often gives a false sense of security & leads to avoiding the natural movements of the horse. This will lead to problems later on, as well as feel awkward and uncomfortable for the horse. We use Icelandic horses because they are naturally quiet horses that do not spook easily. They are also small horses so our students aren't too high off of the ground! We stress communication with the horse rather than perfect equitation or sitting position. Lessons focus on positive encouragement for both the student & the horses. We have found that people & horses learn best when they are happy, confident & having fun. We teach all levels of riders, but specialize in the beginning or first time riders. |

| Training Your Horse |
| Having a problem with your horse? Or maybe you just want to improve your relationship with your horse? We offer full training where we train your horse & then train you! Usually this is a two to three month project depending on where your horse is now. We also offer owner participation training. We require you to commit to working with our trainer at least 3 times per week. In this situation you train your own horse with our help! We are also happy to schedule private training sessions where you trailer your horse to Short N Sweet Ranch on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule. All breeds of horses are welcome! Even tho we raise Icelandics, we love the big guys too! We are located in Central California...overnight boarding for horses in training is available & there are several very nice hotels near by.
