Out of sight, she cries, leaning on a light pole. She says she'll allow her one date with Darean since she was sick. Luna wants her to go with them and try making up with Darean, but she can't stand seeing the two of them together. She fumes about Reenie
being so small she can cuddle with Darean and ends up punching the pole.
In the future, Esmeraude appears before Demand, who warns her to remember Rubeus' fate. She has new way to conquer Crystal Tokyo by working in the past. Saffir appears, and says the Senshi of the past are just as strong as those in the future. He shows them an image of the Sailor Senshi of the future, holding off their assault. Demand apparently has seen enough, and abruptly banishes the image. Esmeraude wants to destroy the world instead of corrupting crystal points as Rubeus tried. Demand reminds her they can't use the Black Crystal on Earth without opening the Black Gate. But Esmeraude claims several points in the past have negative energy. By place crystaling figurines at those points and energizing them, they will absorb the negative energy. When they are all in position, the Black Gate will open and the Black Crystal's power will destroy the world. She's asked Saffir to make them and he produces one, commenting that they are too gaudy for him. Demand gives her permission to try. Esmeraude laughs...
At the new sweets shop, the girls ( minus Serina ) have arrived and are checking it out, especially Rei and Mina. They agree that after saving Reenie they deserve a break (except for Ami who worries about the lack of nutrition). Artemis tries to remind them
about their weight and their duties, and gets shut into his cat carrier by Mina. Reenie and Serina weren't home when they called, but the girls figure they'll find it on their own.
Esmeraude comes down the street, attracting everyone's attention, and using an earring to locate the proper point for the figurine, which apparently is the sweets shop.
Serina wanders by and forces her way to the front window, becoming overjoyed of course. Inside everyone is stuffing themselves. Mina believes they have all lived just for this moment! The girls talk about Darean and Serina's situation while Artemis runs out of air. They catch sight of Serina, who is standing next to Esmeraude, both frantically stuffing themselves. Mina tries to catch her attention and calm her down, while Luna rescues Artemis. Leta and Rei try to drag Serina away, Leta bumping into Esmeraude, who she calls "old lady". Fuming at this, Esmeraude realizes she's made a sight of herself and retreats, mortified. Out of sight she pulls herself together, and plans to destroy this place and all these people, with maniacal laughter of course.
Leta and Ami fill their plates while Serina pours out her troubles (literally) about Darean and Reenie with Rei and Mina.
In the back, Esmeraude finds the point and places a figurine. She then creates a droid, which disguises itself as a waitress. The droid will steal the initial energy it needs.
Serina has finally calmed down, and asks why the others aren't eating, when suddenly Reenie and Darean appear. Reenie can't believe Serina ate all this herself, and she retorts that she's depressed because of guess-who? This rapidly turns into a stick-out-the-tongue duel. Darean tries to escape but suddenly all the other customers in the shop are freezing in place. Sensing something about the waitress, Darean throws a plate at her, and she reveals herself as the droid. She says she will destroy them.
Oblivious to all this, Serina and Reenie are fighting over a piece of cake when Darean yells to "Usako" not to eat the cake. Immediately deciding he must be in love with her again, Serina is quickly disillusioned by Ami and Rei, who tell her to look around. (Meanwhile, Reenie is eating the cake.) The droid attacks with pastry sprays, and almost gets Serina. Darean yells at the others to get out, and after momentary hesitation, they do. Out of sight, Ami tells Reenie and the cats to leave, and the girls transform.
Inside, Darean is in trouble when the Sailor Senshi appear. The droid dodges Mars' attack, and partially freezes both her and Sailor Moon. Jupiter attacks, but is countered and the droid wraps her in donuts. The droid avoids Venus' attack, and gets her, then
Mars and Moon again! Just as it is about to finish them off, Tuxedo Mask appears. "A girl's pure heart is made of sugar, and sometimes sugar melts". Mercury realizes that the droid is vulnerable to water and attacks, weakening the droid which frees the others. Sailor Moon finishes it off.
In the back the figurine shatters. Esmeraude checks the front and is stunned to see everyone recovered. The Sailor Senshi and Tuxedo appear behind her. She is impressed by Tux and makes a pass at him. Sailor Moon tells her not to look at him. Esmeraude
isn't impressed with the 20th century Sailor Senshi, due to their lack of, err... development. Jupiter calls her "old lady" again, and she blows up. The Sailors prepare to fight, but Esmeraude wears them down with a long rambling speech, saying they have won the battle but not the war, and then tortures them with her laugh. She vanishes. Jupiter says she's their new enemy.
Actually, they're handmade bracelets. Molly and Melvin explain that you weave the ring together and make a wish. If the ring unbinds it'll come true. The first lessons at the school are free, so Melvin suggests Serina try it out. Serina feels a little envious about
Molly and Melvin, and remembers how Darean doesn't want to see her anymore...
She's walking home, alone and depressed, when Ami and Leta show up. They ask her what's wrong. She tells them she's OK but they tell her they're there for her if she needs them. She once again says she's OK and that she is going to a shop to check out the Promise Rings when Darean appears from a side street. She feels that her love must have brought them together and calls out to him, but he keeps going. Serina starts to follow, but trips and falls, which brings him to a stop also. Serina asks him what she did wrong to make him hate her, she can't get over him until she knows. Darean (not looking at her) says she didn't do anything, it was all his fault. He leaves, and Serina begins to cry as Ami and Leta watch.
Meanwhile, Esmeraude studies the city. She thinks it's primitive and noisy, but she'll change all that when she fills it with Dark Power. She locates another negative energy point (on the roof of the school above the Promise Ring class) and she summons a droid to watch over it. She leaves, dreaming of returning to the future and Prince Dimando.
Ami and Leta comfort Serina, telling her if the story about the Promise Rings is true, maybe it'll help Darean come back to her. They obtain the materials to make one, and escort her to the crafts class, where she meets Melvin and Molly. The instructor seats her with them, and demonstrates the technique, multiple times as Serina just doesn't get it! The instructor is saved by the bell, boots out Serina and everyone else, and is revealed to be the droid! She summons Esmeraude. The promise rings everyone is making will pollute their wearers with Dark Power.
That night, Serina dozes in her room, still trying to get it right. Reenie and Luna peer in at her. They are worried about how her situation with Darean is affecting her. Serina murmurs Darean's name, and we see a photo of the two together on the dresser. In her dreams she and Darean are getting married, but just as they kiss, everything explodes and they are pulled apart. A voice tells Chiba Darean that he must stay away from Serina, the princess, or this will happen. (This is the dream Darean has been having!) She wakens with a start, and wonders if this is why Darean refuses to see her. When she picks up the photo and looks at it, the glass cracks.
Serina pounds at Darean's door. He tries to get her to leave, until she mentions the dream, which startles him. Outside the building, Luna and Reenie wait. Reenie remarks that Serina's been up there a long time, and that she still hasn't finished the Promise Ring.
Reenie is wearing one.
Upstairs, Darean has let Serina in, but is not looking at her. She knows now that Darean has had the same dream and that he turned away from her because he was afraid for her, and tries to tell him it doesn't mean anything. But Darean says he's had the dream so many times he's begun to believe it wasn't a dream but a prediction of the future. Serina doesn't care about any danger if they can be together, but Darean says they can't be together, and he pushes her out the door. She hammers at the door, crying that even if the world was destroyed she'd want to be with him, until she falls to the floor, sobbing. Darean stands against the door inside.
Outside, Reenie and Luna wait, but just as Serina appears, the promise ring begins infecting Reenie with Dark Power! Luna tears it off and throws it down. Serina runs to Reenie and asks what happened. Luna tells her it was the Promise Ring, and Serina realizes what must be happening.
At the crafts class, most of the students have been felled by the Promise Rings, including Melvin and Molly. Ami's still all right, and she calls in the rest of the Sailor Senshi via wrist communicator.
The crystal figurine on the building is growing rapidly, and is spotted by Luna, Serina, and Reenie. Serina transforms, and Sailor Moon confronts the droid on the building's roof. The droid attacks with energy rings, but Sailor Moon manages to dodge the
droid's attack and it is distracted by Tuxedo Mask. He tells it that a Promise Ring is the pure heart of a girl, and he won't forgive it for tampering with that. He deflects the droid's first attack, but the energy rings become amplified by the negative energy and circle around behind him! But Sailor Mercury then appears and freezes them. The droid's next attack is deflected by Sailor Mars, and then by Jupiter and Venus. Now surrounded, Sailor Moon finishes the Droid off. The crafts class recovers, and the figurine topples. Esmeraude appears, and tells them they won't be able to stop her from opening the Black Gate and releasing the power of the black crystal, rendering the world evil and destroying Crystal Tokyo.
Tuxedo tells Sailor Moon that even though they have problems ahead of them, it is their duty to protect this city as well as the future Crystal Tokyo, and that he is willing to fight along with them. He leaves. Mars goes to Sailor Moon and asks what she is waiting for? The girls can tell from the way they looked at each other that Sailor Moon has figured out what was wrong between them, and that she should go to him.
Serina runs through the streets, and finds Darean. She runs into his arms, and says that even if it's not a good idea that they get married in the future, she doesn't care right now while she's with him. They look at each other, and kiss...
The phone rings at the temple. It's Leta calling Rei, and they both look awful. Leta says both Serina and Ami are down with the flu, and Rei admits that even she is, so it looks like the Sailor Senshi are out of action. However, Leta starts to say that one of them is still well when suddenly Rei's door flies open to reveal a VERY cheerful Mina (waving the cat carrier over Artemis' protests). Leta overhears the commotion and hangs up, sighing. It's apparent from the wreckage in her place that Mina's already been there.
At Rei's Mina's made some food and offers it to her. Artemis tries to warn her, but Mina stops him, adding that as she is the only one who's well she'll take care of everyone. Rei's dubious about the food, but Mina looks at her with such innocence that she has to try it. She swallows, spits flame, and passes out. Artemis tries the food and confirms that it's loaded with salt! Mina then manages to spill the dish on Rei, and then dumps her out of bed trying to change the sheets.
After getting Rei settled again, she produces a cassette and proceeds to fiddle with the tape player, saying how she's read that certain music helps with healing. Rei looks pensive, and when the player finally starts working it blares at top volume. When Mina
tries to apologetically turn it down, it explodes. Rei follows suit and throws her out.
Back out on the street, Mina decides to visit Serina, over Artemis' protests.
Meanwhile, Esmeraude has placed another figurine. Her flu plan is going well, and this time things will work!
Serina's in bed and on the phone with Rei, who is filling her in on Mina's rampage. Serina's saying that she doesn't need Mina's help because there is someone well in the house when suddenly she hears Reenie crying out on the balcony, and quickly hangs up. Reenie's dangling from the railing, apparently from trying to put a sheet out to dry. Mom pulls her up. She's insisting on doing all the work, and Serina tells here to stick to what she knows. Mom has a headache, and can't deal with this. She leaves, telling Reenie she should go play with her friends.
A voice calls out, and a cloaked figure appears on the street. It's Mina, who leaps up to the balcony in one bound, and makes a speech about being the angel of mercy here to help. Artemis hangs his head. Serina tries to talk her into just playing with Reenie but Mina wants to help everyone. Reenie looks happy, and as they go inside Mina tells Serina that she should rest, and tomorrow she'll catch her second cold. Artemis says she meant wind.
Serina lies in bed, Artemis checks on Luna, who tells him he's lucky he's so silly, (This is a play on a saying that silly people never get colds) and the door swings open to reveal Mina and Reenie in nurse's uniforms. Reenie turns Luna-P into a medicine kit, and Mina sticks a digital thermometer into Serina's mouth. However, it doesn't seem to work properly, and when Mina shakes it, it goes flying and breaks the window. Cold air starts rushing in. Luna says she thought Serina was the worst, but she can't compare to Mina.
With the window taped over, Mina suggests some food, which Serina and Artemis frantically shoot down. Mina then goes for the CD player, and Serina manages to distract her by suggesting she take a look at her parents. Mina and Reenie happily go off, falling down the stairs, and the patch comes off the window.
Mina, Reenie, and Luna-P (wearing an apron) then prepare to clean house, and it's a complete disaster. Serina and Mom look on at the devastation, and Mom goes back to bed, saying she'll clean house later. Serina feels bad for Mom, and then gets groggy and passes out.
In her dreams, Serina has dinner with Darean, but just as they kiss the other girls appear. Ami and Rei tell her she's only in junior high yet, and Leta tells Darean to stop it. Then Nurses Mina and Reenie appear, and ask if they need anything (in scary tones). Darean spins off in the void, and fire breaks out! Serina wakes up screaming to find herself in bed and Mina has just put a cold compress on her head. (Reenie is sleeping leaning on the bed.) Serina wonders why Mina is trying so hard to take care of her. Mina says that it's because she's an important friend who brings light to her life, and Reenie helps because she cares about Serina too. Reenie wakes up and reminds Mina they were going to pick up some flu medicine, and the two of them leave together. Serina looks happier.
At the drugstore, Esmeraude checks on the figurine. Apparently she and a droid, in the guise of a doctor, have been using flu medication to spread Dark Power. She laughs. (Of course.)
Mina and Reenie arrive at the drugstore, and finding no one at the counter, Reenie gets impatient and goes looking for someone. Esmeraude and the droid are busying "doctoring" some medication when Reenie barges in, demanding some service. Esmeraude fumes, and then, pretending to be a doctor, produces a needle and says it's for her. Reenie tries to leave, but the droid grabs her and she screams, resulting in one of her energy discharges. Esmeraude is astonished as she realizes it's the "rabbit"! Mina realizes Reenie is in trouble, and so do all the other girls. (Their mystic beepers must go off!) Mina transforms.
Esmeraude can't believe her luck, and the droid transforms into its true form. But Sailor Venus appears, with the traditional battle dialogue. Esmeraude thinks Venus figured out what she was up to and where she was, which Venus confirms without batting an eye. Reenie can't believe Venus is making all this up.
Serina and the others are stumbling through the streets. The cats tell her she's in no shape for this, but she has to help. Venus' fight is not going well, as the droid dodges or counters all her attacks, and then she gets pinned to the wall with giant needles. Esmeraude laughs and tells the droid to get Reenie. It fires a giant needle at her, but a rose stops it. Tuxedo Mask appears, and says a hospital is a place for healing, not killing Esmeraude freaks and sics the droid on him. But Jupiter stops its attack, Mercury creates a fog, and suddenly Esmeraude is surrounded by the Sailor Senshi. Venus tells them they should all be in bed, and they thank her for fighting alone and protecting Reenie, and she's in no more danger now that they are here. Esmeraude yells for the droid to attack and jumps clear. Mars blasts the droid, but Sailor Moon staggers, she's weak from the flu. Tuxedo Mask urges her not to get sick now, he'll like to see her well, and Moon Princess Halation finishes the droid off as usual. Venus asks them not to forget about her.
The figurine shatters. Esmeraude swears revenge (as usual).
Later, the flu has passed, for everyone except Mina and Artemis. Luna cheerfully tells Artemis that he should be glad, as only silly people never get colds. Serina and Reenie appear, in nurse's outfits of course. This time Serina has made some awful food, but Mina can't bring herself to say so and forces it down. Serina and Reenie get into a fight over the thermometer. Mina sighs, realizing she getting exactly what she's given.
Esmeraude appears over the city (in a bathrobe and her hair in a towel) and places another figurine at a cram school, leaves the usual droid to watch it, and infects the class with Dark Power.
The next morning at school, everyone is looking at the exam results. Ami's #1 again! Serina's glad for her, but behind them some other girls are saying it's strange Ami is always at the head of the class. Serina tells Ami to ignore them, it's just envy. Ami says it's OK, as she is used to this kind of behavior about her good grades. Serina is used to it about her bad grades.
Suddenly Melvin and several other boys appear (all affected by Dark Power), and holding a sheet of paper he claims he found a cheat sheet in Ami's desk! The others start in, saying it's odd someone who hangs around with Serina could do so well. Serina and Molly stand up for Ami, but the others won't listen, and wonder why they are taking Ami's side. Not even a direct appeal from Molly affects Melvin. Leta arrives and when they make the mistake of telling her to get out of their way they go flying for their trouble. Ami asks Leta to stop fighting. She doesn't care what the others are saying, and she's more upset over the fact she missed a question on the exam.
Ami, Serina, and Leta are walking home. Leta fumes over what everyone was saying about Ami, and wonders at their strange behavior. Reenie catches up with them, and asks if the rumor that Ami is cheating is true! Leta and Serina are ready to start pounding on people again, but Ami tells them not to, pretending that this doesn't matter. She runs off, obviously upset.
Ami resumes heading home, but people are whispering behind her. She ducks into an alley and cries, but remembers Serina saying that she and the others believe in Ami, and are certain she didn't cheat. She sees on a light pole a poster about a new cram school, and realizes that all the kids who accused her had gone there. She goes there herself, and finding the place empty but full of Dark Power, transforms. Unseen by her, the droid floats outside. It recognizes her as Sailor Mercury, and intends to defeat her.
Sailor Mercury calls out a challenge to anyone listening, and getting no response contacts the others. Serina comes running. The droid duplicates itself and attacks Mercury. Shabon Spray Freezing defeats them. More start coming, but Double Shabon Spray Freezing gets them. (Ed note - This is the first time she's used her power-up since she got it. Have any of the other Sailor's ever used their power-ups again?) Outside, the droid gets an idea. All the duplicates vanish, and Mercury realizes they weren't real. The droid has underestimated her, and plans to use Mercury to kill the other Senshi.
Sailors Jupiter, Mars, and Venus run into the classroom. Mercury tells them that the place is full of Dark Power, and the droid who create it might return. Outside, the droid powers up its antenna, and attacks Mercury mentally. Inside, when Mercury turns to the
others, she sees and hears them belittling her, saying she isn't pretty and she flaunts her good grades. At first she tries to pretend they're joking, but then they begin saying she did cheat on the test. When the real Sailor Senshi ask her what's wrong, Mercury sees them threatening her.
Outside, Serina, Luna, and Reenie arrive. Seeing the growing figurine and droid, Serina transforms, and as Sailor Moon confronts the droid. "For spreading Dark Power to students and making them accuse others of cheating I will punish you!" The droid isn't impressed and uses its power on Sailor Moon, who begins to hear the voices of her friends insulting her and putting her down. She seems to be on the verge of collapsing when she suddenly snaps out of it, telling the droid this trick won't work on a girl who's been insulted all her life! The droid can't believe this while Sailor Moon beams.
The droid then reverts to the usual strategy, stomp on Sailor Moon. Its duplicates attack Sailor Moon and manage to kick her flat on her face. But as the real droid leaps at her, it's stopped by a rose, and Tuxedo appears on a rooftop. He tells the droid it shouldn't corrupt the students, and challenges it. The duplicates attack Tuxedo and succeed in knocking him off the roof. He hits the ground hard, and Sailor Moon runs to him.
The droid laughs and intensifies its attack on Sailor Mercury, telling her to destroy those who insult her. Mercury is being battered down by the assault. When the others try to help, she pushes through them, and prepares for her Shining Aqua Illusion attack! Jupiter, Mars, Venus, and Artemis all flee the room through the window and join Sailor Moon and Tuxedo. Mercury goes to the window and now sees them all insulting her.
The droid says she enjoys having friends turn against each other. Mercury leaves the room and faces the others. Everyone pleads with Mercury to snap out of it. Sailor Moon runs up to her, but Mercury knocks her down! Sailor Moon gets back up, saying she
doesn't believe Mercury will hurt them, but she prepares to attack. Then she suddenly turns on the droid, saying it's what she must destroy. Shining Aqua Illusion staggers the droid, and Mercury tells the droid that the friendship between the Senshi is too strong
to be broken by likes of it. Sailor Moon finishes the droid off.
The figurine shrinks and shatters. Tuxedo tells the others that they have won today's battle and he admires the Senshi's friendship and faith in each other.
Back in the future, Saffir interrupts Esmeraude in the bath again and is angry over her failure. She doesn't seem concerned as tells Saffir to leave, as there is only one man she wants to see her bathing and it's not him. However, as soon as Saffir leaves she becomes angry at her plans being foiled once more.
Back at the school, the girls thank Ami for not attacking them, and she says that she knows they believe in her and that's all that matters. Melvin and the others arrive and apologize to Ami for everything they said. They all admire her good grades. Ami
forgives everyone and says that her grades come from studying. Serina is somewhat annoyed at everyone's sudden change in behavior (and of all the attention Ami is getting) and the others remind her it was the Dark Power that made them all act that way.
Melvin suddenly pops up and says Serina should go to cram school as well, which sends her running off, saying she hates studying. Ami smiles.
