In this episode, Kaede Kunikida disappears and Momiji meets Kusangi while on her way to school , Kusanagi is an ex-servant of the Aragami, and the members of the NLMB, for the first time. She also discovers that she is anything BUT an ordinary fifteen-year-old schoolgirl and that monsterous creatures from the past want to kille her very badly. The Kushinada legend is related and Yamata-no-orochi, the monster of the legend, attack Momiji and starts to destroy her school (piece by piece).
Momiji and toys with her before trying to kill her inside a special ceramic field that will absorb the Kushinada energy wave, thus stopping it from returning the Aragami to sleep. Luckily for Momiji, Kusanagi andthe NLMB arrive to save her. Yamata-no-orochi is destroyed, but not before implanting a Mitama (a "blue seed") in Momiji's chest, while attempting to save Kusanagi. Kusanagi becomes Momiji's protector and it tells how he became an Aragami servant.

Momiji realizes one of her most cherished dream: going to Tokyo! A letter from her grandmother explains what exactly is going on and Kushinada tells her not to talk about her Mitama to the NLMB, since they are the ones who will have to sacrifice her one day. While the NLMB members respond to a call, Momiji is attacked by a crow Aragami. Luckily again, Kusanagi arrives on time to kill it and then reveals that the Mitama are the heart of the Aragami and to destroy it is to kill is definitively.
EPISODE #4: This Is the Worst! Why? Why Does Everything Happen to Me!?
In this episode, Momiji is now a full-fledged NLMB member and starts to work with them. The first person she teams up with is Koume in an investigation about an Aragami composed of water. Momiji discovers the usefulness of her Mitama (it starts to glow when an Aragami is nearby) and nearly drives Koume nuts with her adsentmindess and amazing capacity to get into trouble. Kusanagi saves the day again and Momiji gives Koume a red ribbon for her hair as a token of friendship...
EPISODE #5: Surprise! Surprise! A Scientific Mama!!
The next NLMB member Momiji teams up with is Azusa Matsudaira. Although a brilliant scientist, Matsudaira has the habit of neglecting her family, something that bothers Momiji. Matsudaira promises that she will try to be her son more often, but nearly gets killed in a missio because of all the accumulated stress & fatigue. Luckily Kusanagi is there to save her so that she can meet her son for a weekend getaway. Momiji thinks that Kusanagi is a big softy under his tough-guy shell. He brushes
aside the remark and walks off...
EPISODE #6: Tricky and Complicated! Being a Guy Is Tough. Huh!?
In this episode, Momiji teams up with Yaegashi, the NLMB's computer nerd, to destroy an insectoid Aragami. Yaegashi fails to do so and nearly gets himself and Momiji killed in the process. This seriously destress him, to the point that he wants to quit. Momiji encourages him and, with the help of Kusanagi, the creature is destroyed. Yaegashi, reassured about his usefulness, decides to stay with the NLMB.
EPISODE #7: I'm Fired Up! I'll Do It! 'Cause I'm a Kushinada
The kidnapping of the daughter of a NLMB scientist working in the anti-Aragami weapons development department and the discovery of anti-Kushinada energy wave ceramic in the ruins of Momiji's school indicate that the Aragami have somehow infilrated the NLMB. The use of Momiji's Mitama as a detection device reveals that is is nothing less than an high official of the Kushinada project who is possessed. Oce again, Momiji tries to take care of things herself and gets in way over her head. Kusanagi and the NLMB wave her. Momiji gets upset when someone points out that she seems to like the weird guy with cat's eyes.
EPISODE #8: What's Going On? How Strange--I've Got a Rival!?
In this episode, Momiji is sent as a contestant in an idol singer contest. This is where she meets Sakura Kamazaki, a shinto priesteess/idol singer who will become her main adversary for Kusanagi (oh brother) affection. However, despite Sakura's talents as both priestess and idol singer, Momiji upstages her all the way. Momiji also discovers that her feelings for Kusanagi are not only friendly, but also romantic..
EPISODE #9: Are You Serious? Am I Dreaming!? A Date-- What A Trill!!
The newest Aragami threat is a pack of mutant dogs. Koume and Yaegashi are sent to destroy them, but, even with Kusanagi's help, nothing can be done about them. Luckily, a man bearing Mitama's similar to Kusanagi, intervenes and destroys them easily. In the last battle against the dogs, Kusanagi proves, yet again, to be unable to stop them. The stranger with the Mitama's appears , destroys the dogs and introduces himself as Murakumo. Both Kusanagi and Momiji are startled to hear him calling them by name. They find it rather disquieting and wonder if he is an ally or a servant of the Aragami.
EPISODE #10: Innocence! Love! A First Kiss!?
This episode introduces a new breed of bigger, more powerful Aragami. The first one is an enormous frog which spreads chaos in Tokyo's downtown. Murakumo reveals that he is an Aragami and shows that he is much more powerful than Kusanagi, defeating him easily indeed. Momiji discovers that she can fly when the power of her Mitama is combined with Kusanagi's own. They destry the frog creature and when Kusanagi seemingly unconscious from the effort, collapses. Momiji tries to kiss him and reveal her feelings, but he is just to macho to listen...
