  • John Grady's birth date of 1703 and death date of 1787.
  • John Grady's parents were John Grady and Mary Elizabeth Whitfield (one of their eleven children) was the first NC patriot to die in the Revolutionary War. He was killed during the battle of Moore's Creek, NC just outside Wilmington, NC. There is a monument in his honor naming him as the first NC patriot to die in that war.
