Week 33

Writing that number makes everything seem to be happening very quickly.  33 weeks, only 4 weeks left to go.  Really, less than a month.  Where did the time go?  And how did I get here?  Especially considering how my days seem to drag on forever, making the weeks almost unbearably long.  I half expect someone to tell me that I'm wrong, that I'm really back at 28 weeks or some other week that isn't quite so close the begining of our new life with baby.

This was a sort of milestone week in that the Customer Service Event is finally over.  I've been on the committee since February.  Back in February, October seemed an eternity away.  It was hard to grasp planning for an event that was 8 months away and nearing the anniversary of Matthew's birth.  The event went really well.  I was the chair of the prizes and decorations committee and I think we did a great job.  Everyone was thrilled with the prizes, especially those who won.  While the decorations seemed at first that they may be sort of lackluster and generic, they ended up being really festive and very creative.  This was thanks to the input and talents of a great many people.  I am generally a creative person, but the event has taken second or maybe fifth place to everything going on in my life and I just could not build enthusiasm for decorating.  Thank goodness there were so many creative people around me.  With this event out of the way, I can now look forward exclusively to the u/s and then the arrival of Almond.

I visited Jennifer again this week.  She is looking better and better.  The boys are really taking on some personality and starting to fill out.  Jacob kept his eyes open for most of the visit and Joshua opened his eyes towards the end of the visit.  They're really getting cute.  Stacey went with to visit, actually it was partly her idea.  I had been planning to go, but she came over one day and wanted to know if I was going soon and if it would be alright if she tagged along.  Of course, the more the merrier.  Besides I believe Jennifer is open to all the adult company she can get.  I didn't stay as long this time, but enjoyed the time while I was there.

It was a very productive week.  I finsihed the afghan for Almond and the nursery is now all but done.  Saturday I put up the decorations, fixed the up-lights and got the curtains hung.  My plan is to put up one more shelf near the ceiling and in a corner.  This will have one of Matthew's angels on it although I have not decided which one.  We'll also be putting the stars up that Clint and Holly bought for Matthew last Christmas.  We'll put some of them up in the form of the constellation that Matthew's star appears in.  This way there will always be a reminder that he is watching over Almond.  We've got several handprints on the wall and hopefully most of them will be done before Almond arrives.  I've decided to use pink, yellow, green and blue, which are the same colors as the stars in the nursery pattern.  It's ironic that the nursery set that was purchased long before we even knew whether Matthew was a boy or girl, should have such significance now.  Nothing could be more appropriate than a set with stars as part of the theme.
