And now down into my dungeon...
So you're walking down the stairs off the living room, into the basement. I have to warn you, our 4 cats live down here. They kinda run the show.

Kidding aside, this is the family room. Its the same saze as the living/dining room, about 25x12. Its temporarily under construction. There was a 4th unfinished bedroom down here when we bought the house, and I'm almost done.

Please note the items on the right side of the stairs. No Yankees allowed!
So this is the view right when you open the door at the bottom of the stairway. Another nice curio cabinet on the left, with a recliner, couch, and coffee table. Across from the couch is the TV/stereo, and on the opposide end is my temporary office/computer area until I finish the office/4th bedroom.
Here is what the basement looks like now, after construction of my room. Lots of open space! Pictured here to the right is the room looking at the sewing machine and play area, at some point I want to get a foosball table for there, and make a stand for the carroms board you can see next to the lamp on the end table. Pictured below is looking into the hallway and bathroom from the sewing machine area. Only one small pile of junk remains to be dealt with after finishing my room, I'll stow that away at some point. 7 months of labor finally "operationally" complete. I still have a few minor things to do, such as finishing the box around the exposed pipes, and replacing the cheapo fake wood trim I bought initially with stained oak trim to match the rest of the house, but oak is expensive and I'll purchase it incrementally and install it when I buy enough trim to finish it.
BEFORE PICS!!!
AFTER PICS!!!
This is my office. I have my computer, bookshelf, futon (for sleeping during the day when I work nights, clothes, junk, and basically all my knick knacks. It can be a guest room if necessary when we have friends over, the futon is a full sized bed. Its really nice the way it turned out. Again, 7 months of labor, not continuous, but it wound up only about 15% over budget, of which more than that I'm sure I spent purchasing tools required to do the job, such as drywall tools, renting the texture gun, saws, etc.. All in all, I think its pretty darn good considering I had never done framing, drywalling & finishing, flooring, etc.. All my measurements and such worked out well. Always remember to measure twice, cut once - that philosophy saves a bunch of money! I wired the room for cable and ethernet, I couldn't get access to a phone line to pull in here.
I'll repost some of these pics as I get the room "decorated" I have all my U2 paraphenalia to adorn the walls with, my diplomas, etc.. Thanks for looking!
