The sword pictured below is a custom sword designed for use in forms and katas. I required a lightweight sword and the mass marketed aluminum-zinc alloy swords where just too heavy and prone to braakage. The resulting sword that I created became a very attractive piece as well as functional.
The blade is UNSHARPENED 6061 T6 aluminum. The handle, scabbard ard tsuba are all constructed of wood that is well varnished to protect the wood from the elements. The sword pictured below is the first, the prototype, therefore some changes will be made in later models. These changes will be longer blades, and thinner handles so that the user may wrap it with grip tape or tradtional wrap if desired. These swords are completely handmade. The blades are tediously cut, and many hours are put into polishing them to a near mirror finish. Remember, these are made for kata, not cutting.
In the future I hope to offer these same swords with high carbon steel blades, that feature
real temper lines for those martial artists wishing to use the sword for wara, but because of supply delays, this will take some time to arrange.
