The state of Wisconsin census began in 1836 and ended in 1905. The periods covered were 1836, 1838,
1842, 1846, 1847, 1855, fragments of 1865, 1875, 1885, 1895, and 1905. Sad to say, the 1865 census was
lost to fire. With the exception of the 1905 census, the information listed on the census records is
limited to naming the head of the household and then the total number of inhabitants by sex and race.
Columns are provided to tally the members by the number of deaf, dumb, blind, insane and foreign born.
The 1905 census was more detailed much like the Federal version. It also listed the childrens names and
ages!
