Player characters - page 2 of 2

Basic rules

Although there are no set rules about roleplaying each character, there are a few guidelines you should follow:

_ Get to know your character. You must know how he or she will have to act. Recommended you learn as much as you can about the class you've chosen. It is very important that you roleplay accordingly to what the character's supposed to be.

_ Player characters should always try to cooperate, the game is supposed to be a group activity, where you can interact with each other. If everyone plays on their own, the fun will fade away.

_ Try to concentrate in the game. A lot of people don't pay much attention and even do something else. Talking to each other about what you did yesterday, drawing, and watching TV only disrupt the atmosphere of the game.

_ Don't be shy to roleplay, after all, it's only a game. You can experience things you may not ever dream of doing in real life, so go on!

Gaining experience

Your character will explore strange lands, battle against dangerous foes, and live at the edge between life and death. Of course, your character will learn from each experience, he or she will gain experience points. Experience points are just numbers that measure how experienced your character is. The amount of experience determines your experience level. Every character starts his or her adventuring career at experience level 1. From then on, experience earned will make your character reach new levels of experience, and with them, more powers and abilities. The higher the experience level, the more powerful your character will be.

Experience is earned in multiple ways: completing quests, defeating (not necessarily killing) enemies, roleplaying well, resolving puzzles, having intelligent ideas, etc. The one who determines the amount of experience gained is the Dungeon Master.

It is very important, but you must not ever do things just "because they give experience". The main focus of the game is roleplaying and having fun, not creating superpowerful characters. Besides, not many DMs like the idea that players only want experience, so they might as well give little or no experience as punishment. Always roleplay your character well and have fun with it.
