My first instrument was a ukalalee (plastic). I burned thru the chord chart and songs very fast. My dad then bought me a Silvertone acoustic guitar from Sears. I played that thing at talent shows and church bazars for about three years. My feature songs included Cotton Fields, El Rancho Grande, and Puff the Magic Dragon. Pretty cool huh? My first electric was of course another Silvertone but this had an amp built in the case. "Yea baby." I played this guitar in "Me and Them" at CYO dances etc.

We started playing in gyms which required greater amplification. So I upgraded to a Silvertone amp with 2x12s reverb & tremolo. I think I payed $7.50 a mo or something through Sears. This amp doubled as a PA for vocals and rhythm guitar amp.

After that rig things changed in 1967. I switched over to bass. My first bass was an EBO Gibson single pickup. I traded in my Silvertone amp for a Kustom 100 with 2 15"s.

My bass got stolen, so it was replaced with a Guild hollow body (Guilda). I also bought a Fender 6-string bass like Jack Bruce had. In 68 I needed more power so I added two Kustom cabinets with 3 15"s total of 6 speakers. I kept my K-100 brain. About mid 69 I replaced the 6 15"s with Lansing Speakers (sweet).

I quit rock for a short period and played in a popular music band. Downgraded back to 2-2x15 lansing Kustom cabinets. I bought the Gibson EB3 (walnut) with this rig.(Bass on right shown with Kustom amp above.)

I went back to rock and bought a super rig. An Acoustic 360 hooked in series with a Sunn 2000s. You could hear and feel me for blocks playing at Lee Park in Dallas at outdoor concerts. I started playing a Fender Telecaster bass (Terry).

The band broke up so I let the Acoustic go back and kept the Sunn. Not a good choice looking back on it. Went back into popular showband circuit. I eventually Traded in the Sunn for a Marshall Bass rig. I traded the Telecaster bass for a Ampeg Dan Armstrong (clear) bass. Sexy! yeah baby!

I sold the Marshall and yes went back to the Acoustic 360. The Ampeg & Acoustic was the rig I played in Blackbird with Stevie Ray Vaughan.

I traded in the Ampeg on a new 1972 Fender Precision (Precsilla) that I still have to this day. Absolutely the best bass I've ever played.
