| I am the oldest of five girls.Three of us grew up together and the other two were born after I was a teenager. In the summer time we had a nice playhouse in which we would cut paper dolls out of the catalogs the neighbors would save us,mom would give us boxes and we would cut doors and windows in the boxes. We also cut clothes for the dolls too.Sometime mom would give us scraps from the material she made our clothes with,we would sew clothes for our little bride dolls we had,they were like the Barbie dolls,but not as sturdy built.We did not have television until I was older,but when we did get it we hardly watched it,we had more fun entertaining ourselves.We lived on a large farm and we had a lot of pets and a lot of room to play.Sundays were nice because a lot of the relatives would come and we had our cousins to play marbles,fish,or just kid around.Mom would always fix large meals.Those were happy days.Mom learned to run the farm because my stepfather was a oil well worker,he was a driller,tooldresser,and all around guy.There was times he would be away and she would do all the farm work and housework too.We helped a little,whenever mom would tell us,most of the time we made a mess and she would end up doing it over.I went to stay with grandma to go to high school and that is where I met my husband and we got married.Mom had one little girl and then when my oldest son was born she had another little girl. |
