Sticky & Simon Sez - Golly Gosh (Vocal Version) ::Social Circles::
Sticky, like Jameson has a bit of a reputation attached to him. You always expect him to deliver something special and 90% of the time he does. However, to vocalise the original Golly Gosh was something of a gamble. In the words of B Live, the instrumental of this track was "Dungeon Raw"! It became something of an anthem from last year. However, now we have Simon Sez flexing his unique sound over the top to create something a bit different. Simon Sez has already proved his worth on tracks such as "More Weed" and "Shut Your Mouth", but I feel that on this track he is not at his best. There seems to be no special element to the vocal that really grabs me and at the end it seems to be something of an anti-climax. However, saying that I'm sure that the tune will appeal to many people who like the way Simon Sez does his stuff, however for me it seems that it can't stand up to the original.
Not bad, but then again, not great.

Craig David - Rise & Fall (MJ Cole Remix) ::Wildstar Records::
What can I say?! If you haven't heard about this tune then you must have been living in a cave for the past few months!
Although the track has been getting caned on the underground by most big DJs for a while now, this is arguably the finest piece of UKG so far this year.
MJ is back with that awesome 4/4 sound that he has been delivering as of late, but he manages to keep it quite different from the style of say, his "Gabriel" remix.
The intro to the tune is bouncy with several little vocal snippets chopped and re-arranged to keep crowds on their toes. We then get a quiet breakdown featuring the chorus vocal before that infectious main beat and vocal samples switch back in - it's hard not to dance at this point!!
The track then makes good use of a lot of the original vocal rather than being a dub version. It manages to be recognisable to those outside the UKG scene whilst still retaining that underground "cool factor".
MJ really has found a distinct style with this piece, one that he should definitely be proud of. With more productions and remixes in the pipeline (including his fantastic remix of Rodney P's "Trouble"), 2003 seems to be the year when Mr Coleman will make some serious noise! With this track he has proved that he is one of the original dons!
Absolutely awesome!
