SOGGY DOGGIE

It was a dirty fire station,
Max had gotten muddy.
So Chief summoned our Dalmatian,
“You need to wash your little buddy.”

“Can we go to Best Friend’s Beauty Shop?
They’ll have him looking very chique.”
“No,” said Chief, “I’ve been looking through this coupon book,
Let’s try Harry’s Hounddog Pet Boutique.


I’m gonna give you fifteen dollars,
And you need to bring me back the change.
Make sure they scrub beneath his collar,
And that they get out all the stains.”

But our Chief had made a big mistake,
And it didn’t turn out like he’d thought,
When those dogs stopped off for milkshakes,
At Arthur’s Burger Joint and Custard Shop.


Gus enjoyed his usual ---
Vanilla cream with chocolate swirl.
Max tried one with root beer,
And got a hamburger and french fry curls.

When they brought the bill, our dog looked ill,
“It’s gonna cost $11.30!
Chief won’t be thrilled, and I’ll get grilled,
If I bring you back still dirty!”


Max then found a bargain,
And a clever way to get him spiffy,
“Look! It’s Bubbles Budget Car Wash,
Self-service starting at $3.50.”

After a visit to the vacuum bay,
Max had a pre-soak rinse and foaming brush.
Then Gus whisked the dust and dirt away,
With an undercarriage flush.


As he threw the switch to rinse and wax,
It swallowed their last dime.
“We’re gonna have to watch it Max,
We’re running low on time.”

The buzzer buzzed, the wash was done,
And those dogs were out of hope.
“Our time is up, our money’s gone,
And you’re still full of soap!”


Gus rushed down to the river,
And tossed that pup into the stream.
As Max began to shiver,
Gus said, “I think you’re coming clean!”

That Beagle brightly sparkled
When Gus got out all the suds.
But along the shore the loose ground crumbled,
And now they’re stuck in gooey mud!


I woke up from my dream to find
Those dirty dogs were me.
And no matter how I try and try,
I’ll never make myself come clean.

I place my trust in Him
Who came to wash my feet,
And take away my sin,
So white as snow that I might be.
