GUS’S NURSERY RHYMES
Ladder truck, ladder truck,
Fireman’s friend.
Race to the blaze as fast as you can.
Unbend it, extend it,
A full one hundred feet.
Puttin’ out the flames for Firehouse 3.
Jack and Millie went into the city
To buy a new box of dog bones.
But on the way back, Jack ate all the snacks,
And now his tummy feels awful.
Little Miss Miller
Sat on a pillow,
Eating her pizza soufflé.
Along came Miss Charlotte
Who drenched it with garlic,
And ruined the rest of her day.
---
Rock a bye Beagle, snug in Chief’s cot,
Nose to his toes, he’s out like a rock.
Alarm bells go clang, we’re off to a call,
Yet peaceful is Beagle, asleep through it all.
Jack Russells are nimble,
Jack Russells are quick.
A Jack Russell jumped over Ladder Truck 6.
Little Miss Miller
Sat on a pillow,
Eating her corn dog and fries.
Along came Miss Gretchen
Who cleptoed the ketchup,
Bringing tears to her sad little eyes.
---
Freckly speckly spots,
The dog with dark black dots.
He chewed up our phone instead of his bone,
Freckly speckly spots.
Little Jack Russell
Got in big trouble
For trashing a holiday pie.
He pulled out the plums
And left it in crumbs,
“What a naughty doggie am I!”
Little Miss Miller
Sat on a pillow,
Eating her pasta and cheese.
Along came a poodle
Who ate all the noodles,
And left her a case of the fleas.
---
Sailing south on Sixth Street,
Our engine whizzes by.
400 cubic inches
Of diesel thunder pride.
The throttle fully opened,
Our sirens shriek and sing.
You’d better pull on over
When in the mirror you see our rig.
Hey hairy Terrier,
You know no barriers.
Jack Russell jumped over the moon!
Little Max laughed
With a snort snort snort,
As that blip blazed on by with a boom.
Little Miss Miller
Sat on a pillow,
Sipping her hot apple drink.
Along came a spider
Who siphoned the cider,
“Do you think that just maybe I’m jinxed?”
---
Fleas up on top,
Fleas down below.
Feels like the chicken pox,
Tail to toes.
Some bite my spots,
Some bite my nose.
Some bite and never stop,
Bless my bones!
Jumpy Jack Russell vaulted a wall,
Misjudging his muscles, flew clear through a cloud.
All of Chief’s ladder trucks, all of Chief’s men ...
Had to get help from the Air Force instead.
Little Miss Miller
Sat on a pillow,
Eating her favorite dessert.
Along came that spider ---
“I DARE YA TO TRY IT!
IF YOU TOUCH IT YOU’RE GONNA GET HURT!”
