FACTORY STOCKS-
This
division will be characterized as an intermediate division for persons
wanting to race in a more competitive division.
DEFINITION -The word "Stock" will mean unaltered
and as originally produced. O.E.M. equipment only unless otherwise noted.
Subject to track approval.
BATTERY – One battery only. Must not be
located in driver’s compartment. Must be securely mounted to structural
member. Battery disconnect switch behind driver seat, mandatory.
BODIES
- Stock appearing steel body only. (Exception- door skins may be
aluminum).
- Driver Compartment definition- Firewall to rear of main hoop, door bars to
door bars. Floor pan must remain stock to rear of main hoop. No high
interiors.
- Body width-76" Max.
- Fenders may be cut for tire clearance, not to exceed 3".
- Inner door panels may be removed.
- Grill may be replaced with wire screen.
- All upholstery MUST be removed.
- All doors must be welded shut.
- There must be a stock-appearing firewall between driver & trunk area
using min. 20-gauge steel.
- Sharp edges
must be rolled under or car will not be allowed to compete.
BUMPERS - Bumpers shall not extend beyond grill. No
sharp corners, rounded corners only- If it can cut a tire, it can’t
compete. No reinforced bumpers.
BRAKES – Four wheel OEM hydraulic brakes only, in
good working order. Single piston disc brakes O.K. No aftermarket
calipers.
CAR NUMBERS
- Must appear on both doors - 18" high with a minimum 2" stroke.
- Driver’s name will appear over both doors.
- Car # must appear on upper right hand corner of windshield. 6" stroke
min.
CARBURETOR, INTAKE AND HEADS
- Automotive stock cast iron intake or Edelbrock aluminum Performer # 2101,
2116 or 2181 only. No marine intake or mercruiser intake. No cutting,
porting, polishing or welding on intake. 1" maximum adapter allowed.
- Stock 500-CFM Holly 2-brl. part #4412 with 1-11/16 maximum base only. NO
HP SERIES. NO ALTERING. Choke horn may be removed. $200
claimer*. See protest/claim rule.
- Cast iron, straight-plug heads only. No altering, porting or polishing -
immediate disqualification will result.
- Air box allowed. Any filter allowed.
CAR CONSTRUCTION – All cars will be built in a
safe, workman-like manner. Subject to track approval. No
driver-adjustable devices, except brake bias, allowed.
COMPETING MODELS - American made (2 or 4 door type).
No convertibles, pickups, station wagons or jeeps.
DRIVE SHAFT
- A metal strap is to be located in the forward 1/3 of the driveshaft to
prevent if from dropping to the track.
- Driveshaft must be painted white.
- Steel driveshaft only.
ENGINE
Factory stock-type engine and components only. MAX 360 C.I.D. 10.50 :
1 COMPRESSION MAX. NO TOLERANCE.
No Roller components, except Roller Rockers, allowed. No Stud Girdles.
Solid lifter cam shaft allowed.
Forward most spark plug must not be rearward of upper ball joint centerline.
No tolerance.
Solid engine mounts O.K.
*ENGINE PROTEST & CLAIM RULES
- To be eligible to protest, driver must be registered and have competed in
the previous 2 feature events of current season. The entire amount of
$200.00 cash (U.S. funds) shall be paid to the track inspector within 5
minutes of completion of feature race. There will be a $100.00 backout fee
if protesting driver backs out. If driver of protested engine refuses
teardown, he will lose points for the year and winnings for the night, and
will be suspended for 2 calendar events. If protested driver fails
inspection, protest fee will be refunded. If protested driver passes
inspection, said driver will receive protest fee. Only registered drivers
may protest an engine & only drivers may refuse or agree to protest.
- Any registered driver whose car is running 6th through 12th, on
the lead lap and running, is eligible to protest 1st thru 5th.
- Protestee has the right to tear down protestor’s engine in lieu of tear
down fee.
- Tear down will be supervised by track officials.
- Any driver found to be protesting an engine for anyone other than himself
will lose all points for the season, will be suspended for 4 calendar events
or until $250.00 fine is paid to speedway.
- Limit 1 claim/protest per year.
- CARB/HEADER CLAIM
. For the amount of $200.00 for carb, $100 for
headers, any driver finishing 6th-12th may claim drivers finishing 1st-5th.
Claimer must have competed in 2 previous feature events, must be on the lead
lap and make claim with track inspector within 5 minutes after feature event.
If claimee refuses to sell, they forfeit winnings and points for the night.
FRAMES – Stock-type frame. Additional reinforcement
allowed.
FUEL CELL
- FUEL CELL MANDATORY. Must be securely mounted to frame. Fuel lines will
not pass through driver compartment. Subject to track approval. No
filler tubes or electric fuel pumps.
- Fuel Cell minimum ground clearance-10.0". No tolerance.
GLASS - All glass must be removed except the
windshield, which must be retained. Lexan only may replace windshield. No
Plexiglas,
IGNITION
- Stock Ignition only. No ignition boxes allowed.
MANIFOLDS & EXHAUST
- Cast iron exhaust manifolds or conventional Down-turn headers only.
Headers- Single diameter, 1 5/8" tube max. No weed burners. $100.00
claim*. See protest/claim rule.
- Exhaust must exit behind driver and remain within and underneath body
panels and be directed downward towards track. No part of the exhaust system
may pass through driver’s compartment. Exhaust pipe- 2 1/2" OD max.
Mufflers mandatory. 98 DECIBELS MAX. THIS WILL BE ENFORCED.
MIRRORS - No mirrors allowed.
RADIATOR
- One radiator only.
- Must be stock type, in stock location. Aluminum O.K.
- Sheet metal may not be altered to accommodate radiator.
- Must have 1 gal. catch can for tank overflow (or) overflow tube at center
of windshield in clear view of officials.
- Radiator protection O.K. Must be behind grill.
- Water is the only coolant allowed.
- Duct work recommended.
REAR ENDS
- Must be stock. Ford 9" rearend, OK.
- Posi-traction, locked or welded, OK.
ROLL CAGE
- 4-Point roll cage mandatory- DOM tubing, 1-3/4" O.D. min, .095 wall
min.
- Minimum of THREE driver side door bars. 1/8" steel doorplate
24" x 24" min. driver’s side and 12" x 18" kick
plate to protect driver’s legs.
- Front and Rear hoops suggested.
- Roll bars must be padded around driver area.
SHOCKS
- One steel, stock-type shock per wheel.
- Shock claim - $50 per unit.
SUSPENSION - Must remain stock. Screw jacks allowed. No panhard bars.
TIRES – Hoosier Sportsman
TOW CHAIN
– FRONT AND REAR. (Chain
Only) must be secured to bumper or frame. Chain loop must be large enough to
accommodate wrecker hook. Must be adequate for car weight.
TRANSMISSIONS
- No made-for-racing transmissions allowed.
- Must have working reverse gear.
- Automatic transmission must have converter and vent into overflow can.
- Manual transmissions- Stock clutch, pressure plate and flywheel
only. No aluminum clutch components allowed. Safety bell housing mandatory.
- 2" inspection hole in bottom of bell housing- mandatory.
- Transmission coolers allowed in engine compartment only.
WEIGHT RULE
- Cars with wheelbase of 110" or more - 3200 lbs. with the driver
after the race.
- Cars with wheelbase of 109" or less - 3300 lbs. with the driver
after the race.
- 55.0%
max left side weight. with driver after race.
- 50.0%
min front weight with driver after race.
- All weights painted white with car number painted in contrasting color. Any
weight found not painted white, with car number, will be disqualified.
Weights will be anchored with (2) ˝"dia bolts minimum.
WHEELBASE – Min. 105". Tread width (measured
sidewall to sidewall)- 78" Max.
WHEELS - Steel wheels only, 8" wide max.
1/2" minimum wheel studs mandatory.
ADDITIONAL RULES REQUIRED FOR FIGURE 8’S -
STRICTLY ENFORCED
- Min. 3 right side door bars and 1/8" steel door plate 24"x
24" right side.
- Figure-8 cars with reinforced bumpers will not be allowed to compete in
the factory stock division.
