Hosted by the Morinville Lions Club
November 25, 2000
The meeting was well attended with over 40 members of Cabinet present. I wish to thank all those who attended for giving up a Saturday to serve our District. We will be investigating ways of reducing the time it takes to cover the Cabinet agenda for future meetings. For example, I will be investigating monthly teleconferencing sessions for the District Governors Advisory Committee. We will make every effort to have all Committee reports focus on action items.
Meeting Highlights:
Presentation to Mr. Peter Wightman of Wildrose Audiology Clinic for his work with Lion Dr. Mike Scuba's project with hearing aids.
Presentation by representatives of the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation for the proposed Royal Alexandra Hospital Lions Eye Research Institute [a proposal developed by Edmonton Lions Castledowns Lions] [approved in principle]
Confirmed PDG George Bevan as our representative on the Camp He Ho Ha Board of Directors.
Struck a committee to review and rewrite our Constitution and Bylaws.
Endorsed the Edmonton Southgate Lions Club Project 1000 in 2001 [a flag holder] as a District 37B Endorsed Project.
MULTIPLE DISTRICT 37 COUNCIL OF GOVERNORS MEETING REPORT
November 3, 2000, Havre, Montana
The Council of Governors meeting was proceeded by a one day retreat led by PID Bill Webber and attended by the current members of Council, several of the current Vice District Governors, several of last year's Council members, and the following advisors: PIP Brian Stevenson, PID Jack Isaman, and PID Tom Lehman.
Much of the session was devoted to reviewing the administrative structure of the Multiple District which is deemed to be very timely because of the resignation of our Multiple District Secretary Treasurer, Lion Vern Borgedahl. All Lions will long be indebted to the service Lion Vern and Lion Ollie have provided our District.
As a result of the structural review, a number of Constitutional and Policy amendments will be presented for approval at the Multiple District Convention in Medicine Hat May 17-19, 2001. I will present these proposals in a forthcoming issue of B-Connected.
