B CONNECTED, Volume 5, December 2000
From District Governor Larrie's Desk
Lion Pam and I have completed a very heavy travel schedule in November. We made official visits to ten Lions Clubs [Radway, Westlock, Morinville, Edmonton Goldengate, Fort McMurray, Wandering River, St. Albert Host, Edmonton City of Champions, Smoky Lake, and Fort Assiniboine], one Council of Governor's meeting, one Cabinet meeting, and two District Conventions District 37C and District 37E.
We wish to express our appreciation to the hospitality shown us by the Lions of each Club during our visits. I had the pleasure of inducting 7 new members into the family of Lionism. Congratulations to the Lions Clubs of Morinville [4 members], Fort McMurray [1 member], St. Albert Host [1 member] and Radway [1 member].
I wish especially to thank Cabinet Secretary Treasurer PDG Lion Fern Bilodeau, Peace Poster Chairman Lion Solange Bilodeau for attending three of my visits. Also I wish to thank Region V Chairman Lion Ken Hatch for his visit to the Fort McMurray Lions and Zone VB Chairman Lion Mark Neaves for visiting Fort McMurray and Wandering River for my visit. I also wish to thank those Lions from other clubs who attended my official visits.
The Lions of the Morinville Lions Clubs need to be recognized for the hospitality the extended to all members of Cabinet for our November 25 Cabinet Meeting. I know this date was not convenient for you, but your Club members exemplified our motto "We Serve".
District Governor Wayne Gilbertson and the Lions of District 37C and District Governor Gordon Prusky and the Lions of District 37E are to be congratulated for well run and informative conventions.
Congratulations to the District Convention Committee for the theme and motto they have adopted for our District 37B Convention, March 9/10, 2001. The Theme is Leadership. Leadership in the Community, Leadership through Communication, Leadership through Cooperation. Quality Leadership.
The motto for the Convention is Leaders In Office Need Skills. The Committee is developing a very entertaining program they are scheduling a number of inspirational speakers the International guest, PID John Daum of Wyoming, has been active in the USA/Canada Leadership Forums. A leadership skit with the Lions Leadership Institute graduates will be presented to illustrate leadership skills at the Club level. Details about the Convention will be presented in future issues of B-Connected. I encourage you to attend.
Finally, I am proud to announce that we now have a District 37B Web Page thanks to the efforts of Lion Trish Humphrey of the City of Champions Lions Club. Our page is in the initial stages of development at this time it has no graphics but it is a start. We can post the text of B-Connected and other information about our District so that the information is readily available to those of us who have access to the Internet. Our address is
