- Page 2 of 2 1. Harambe - It pays to look UP in this park now and then. In Harambe, for instance, you might spy a genuine Coke bottle perched atop a utility pole as an insulator for a power line. 2. Harambe - As you wander into Harambe, stand outside the door at the Dawa Bar / Tusker House Restaurant. You'll swear that you can hear dishes clinking, voices talking, a radio, as well as a persistent knocking. The story is that the landlady who runs the "hotel" above the bar is trying to collect the rent from the delinquent students who live there. 3. Harambe - If you go behind the Dawa Bar / Tusker House Restaurant building, you can hear the sound of a baby crying from one of the second floor windows, then what sounds like a mother nursing the baby while singing to it. 4. Kilimanjaro Safaris - The rocks in the lion area are climate controlled! They are heated in the winter and cooled in the summer in order to encourage the lions to lay in the good viewing areas! 5. Asia - You might dread the fact that you're stuck in the queue waiting to get doused on Kali River Rapids. This is actually one of the BEST places in all Animal Kingdom to linger! The details and thought that went into designing the queue are evident. Be sure to note the Kali Tiger Temple, the Balinese puppets, the prayer wheel and the brass gongs as you meander through the various chambers. And don't miss Mr. Panika's office -- the owner of the "business" may be "out to temple" as the signs indicate, but the two resident geckos who reside in his gecko cabinet are in all the time. Children will enjoy spotting the little critters, which are very much alive! 6. Asia - Want to wreak revenge on someone, anyone! After getting drenched on the Kali River Rapids, be sure to stop on the bridge after exiting the ride. You'll find two elephants whose trunks will spout water at the unsuspecting riders below if you push their buttons 7. Pangani Forest - As you pass the Gorilla Research Camp, look for a giant rock about 30 feet high that's carved in the shape of Jafar from Aladdin. 8. Dinoland - Immediately after you pass beneath the Olden Gate Bridge, keep an eye out for a bulletin board filled with some humorous notes courtesy of the Disney Imagineers. 9 - Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama - Look at the Diggs County Highway 498 signs. Disney Animal Kingdom opened in April 1998 (4/98). 108. Dinoland Restaurantosaurus - In the plaster room you'll find a pair of Minnie Mouse ears in white plaster hanging over the entrance to the bunk room. 11. Dinoland Boneyard - There are several large wooden boxes with handles on top. If you can find one without parents crashed on it, pull the handle up, and the boxes will growl and make other animal sounds. It is great theming to make you believe they were animal crates! 12. Dinoland Boneyard - Be sure to find at least one of the special little treats. If you look off to the right, behind the jeep, they'll see a row of fossils set into the wall. Just hit one and find out what happens -- it's musical! If you can't find the so-called "xylobone," a Cast Member will point it out.. 13. Dinosaur - The red, yellow in white pipes over head in the queue area have the chemical name and formula for ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise written on them! 14. Dinosaur - The Time Rover vehicles bear the disignation CTX. This is a reference to the attractions former name, Count Down to eXtinction. 15. Camp Minnie - While walking on the way to Camp Minnie-Mickey, there are two talking bushes called Herb and Flora that pass the time by talking to passers-by and, very loudly, people-watching with each other. They were very funny, but seem to only be "alive" for short periods of time. Check 'em out the next time you're there! 16. Camp Minnie - On the bridge to Camp Minnie Mickey you'll see a waterfall rock formation on the right. This formation resembles a crocodile's head, with the water flowing from its mouth. 17. Camp Minnie - As you approach the character greeting pavilions, look at end of the roof rafter sticking out of the first pavilion on the left to find a hidden Winnie the Pooh! 18. Camp Minnie - In the second pavilion from the left, the railings around the pavilion are made to look like tree branches. If you look on the left side, you'll see that the branches form a hidden Minnie! 19. Conservation Station - There is a talking recycling can, called Pipa, that performs! |
