This is the poster from the movie which was released in cinemas in 1992.
As flames roll across the screen, we soon learn that Walt Disney presents
Aladdin.
In the next scene we see a desert and a camel, a palace and a city and flame
eater, and the song Arabian Nights plays in the background.
We next see a market trader who introduces us to the story, he shows us his
merchandise, and eventually gets to a very special piece, a lamp, but its not
just an ordinary lamp, its the lamp that once held the genie. He introduces the
story by saying that a "dark man waits with a dark purpose"
We next see Jafar talking to a commoner. Jafar places two halves a metal
Scarab beetle, which flies off and they follow it. A great big lion head forms
in the sand - the cave of wonders. Jafar tells the commoner to get him the lamp.
The lion head asks who the man is. He tells him he is a humble thief. The
cave eats him because Gazeem - the commoner was not worthy, and not a diamond
in the rough. Iago - Jafars parrot is very annoyed to say the least!
We next go to a very different scene, the market. A street rat called Aladdin
steals a loaf of bread and escapes from the guards, with the help of his monkey
- Abu. We hear the song One Jump Ahead,, as Aladdin manages to elaborately escape
the guards. After all that, he gives the bread to some hungry children. A suitor
for the princess walks through the market, and some children run in front of the
horse. The suitor nearly whips them but Aladdin steps in. The suitor calls him a
worthless street rat. This upsets Aladdin a fair bit but he tries not to show it.
Aladdin doesnt have a house, but he does have a nice little area to call home.
In the next scene we are in the palace. The suitor we saw earlier comes
rushing out looking very disgruntled. The sultan is very disappointed with the
princess Jasmine, he tells her that she must be married by her next birthday.
Jasmine is unhappy because she feels trapped and she has never even been outside
the palace walls. Jasmine sets her birds free.
We next see the Sultan again and he is with Jafar - his most trusted advisor.
Jafar hypnotises the sultan and convinces him to give Jafar his ring.
Jasmine is so fed up that she escapes. We are back at the market and Abu and
Aladdin steal a watermelon. Jasmine walks through the market and as soon as
Aladdin sees her, he is infatuated with her. Jasmine, not realising that she is
disguised picks up an apple for a hungry little boy and the stall owner tries to
cut her hand off. Aladdin comes to the rescue however. He convinces the owner
that Jasmine is his crazy sister and they get away unscathed.
Jafar manages to find out who the one person who can enter the cave of
wonders is, and sees that it is Aladdin, and decides to invite him to the
palace.
Aladdin and Jasmine talk, and both explain how their trapped, without giving
anything away. Guards seize Aladdin, and Jasmine drops a bombshell by revealing
that she is the princess and tells the guards to unhand him. But the guards
orders come from Jafar and they drag him off.
When Jasmine gets back to the Palace, Jafar tells her that Aladdin has been
killed. Jasmine gets very upset by this.
We next see Aladdin - who is not dead, in the dungeons Abu frees him from the
chains. An old man - also in the dungeon tells Aladdin about the Cave of Wonders.
The old man turns out to really be Jafar. Jafar shows him an escape route. Next
thing we see the desert and once again the big lion head appears. The head tells
him to touch nothing but the lamp. There is tons of gold inside the cave. Abu
nearly touches some jewels, but Aladdin stops him just in time. Then a magic
carpet follows them. Aladdin asks the carpet whether it knows where the lamp is.
The carpet is very pleased that he can help.
Aladdin gets to lamp, but just as Aladdin gets it Abu touches a giant ruby.
The whole cave starts to shake and it says that Aladdin will never again see the
light of day. The whole cave melts into the ground and Aladdin and Abu are trapped.
Carpet tries to take them away, Jafar grabs the lamp.
The Sultan is very mad with Jafar.
Aladdin rubs the lamp and out pops an extravagant blue Genie pops out of it.
The genie explains how he is now the genies master. Al thinks he is dreaming.
The genie sings the song "Never Had A Friend Like Me"
The genie tells Aladdin that he cant grant every wish, he cant kill people,
he cant make people fall in love and he cant bring people back to life.
Aladdin tricks the genie and bets him that he cant even get them out of the cave.
The genie gets Aladdin and Abu out the cave.
The Sultan tells Jafar that he must discuss the sentencing of prisoners with
him before killing them. Jasmine is extremely upset, and says that the only good
thing about her being forced to marry is that when she is queen, she will have
the power to get rid of Jafar. Iago tells Jafar that he should marry Jasmine,
because then he could become Sultan.
Aladdin and the Genie are on an exotic island. Aladdin informs the genie that
he never actually wished to get out of the cave so hes still got 3 wishes left.
Aladdin asks the Genie what he would wish for. The Genie tells him that he would
wish for freedom. Aladdin tells him that after hes used his first two wishes,
he will set him free. He uses his first wish to turn him into a Prince so that
he can marry Jasmine. The genie also turns Abu into an elephant - much to his
disgust!
Were back with Jafar and the Sultan again. Jafar suggests that Jasmine marry
the royal vizier, he hypnotises him to convince him, but they are interrupted by music. We see Aladdin - now Prince Ali Ababwa and his parade. The Genie sings "Prince Ali".
When Aladdin gets in the palace, the Sultan has a go on the magic carpet. Jafar tells the Sultan that he doesnt trust Ali. Ali and Jafar argue over Jasmine, which gets Jasmine mad, claiming that she isnt a prize to be won and storms off!
Aladdin is very upset because Jasmine wont give him a chance. The genie reckons he should tell Jasmine the truth. Aladdin goes to visit Jasmine on her balcony. Jasmine thinks that she knows him, but he denies it. Jasmine gets annoyed, and tells Aladdin to go jump off a balcony, which he does, onto the carpet. Aladdin and Jasmine go on a magic carpet ride around the world. The pair sing "A Whole New World".
Aladdin reveals that he was the one in the market, but says he sometimes dresses as a commoner. The pair kiss on the balcony, and Jasmine goes in all happy.
Some Guards seize Aladdin, and toss him into a river - on Jafars orders. Al just manages to rub the lamp before he is knocked unconscious. The genie brings Al back to life, using up his second wish.
The sultan tells Jasmine that Jafar will marry her, he has been hypnotised again. However Aladdin comes in, and smashes up the stick. The sultan realises that Jasmine has finally chosen a suitor, and is extremely happy. He tells Aladdin that he will become Sultan, which makes Aladdin a little bemused.
Jafar has realised the Ali is Aladdin, and hatches a plan. He tells Iago to go and steal the lamp.
Aladdin is depressed, he cant wish the genie free because he thinks that he is nothing without him. He decides to tell Jasmine the truth. Iago puts on the voice of Jasmine, and lures him out of his room. Iago goes in and steals the lamp.
Meanwhile, the crowds go wild when they are introduced to Ali.
Jafar then becomes the new master of the lamp. His first wish is to rule on high as Sultan. The genie rips the palace from its foundations and moves it onto a big cliff. His second wish is to be made into the most powerful sorcerer in the world. He makes Jasmine and the Sultan bow down to him. Jafar reveals that Ali is really Aladdin, and we hear Jafars song - Prince Ali (reprise). Jafar sends Aladdin to the ends of the earth .
We next see Aladdin in a snowy place, in his old raggedy clothes, and he is freezing. He finds Abu, and damns himself for not freeing the genie when he had the chance. Aladdin finds the carpet under the tower that Jafar sent him in. As Aladdin pulls the carpet out, the tower starts rolling towards him, but he manages to crouch down where the window is, and escapes being crushed. Aladdin picks himself up and shouts "Back to Agrabah" and they set off!
In the next scene Iago is feeding the Sultan some crackers. Jasmine is dressed in some red, more revealing clothes. Jafar wishes that Jasmine will fall desperately in love with him. The genie, refuses to do, because he cant and Jafar gets very angry. However when Jasmine spots Aladdin, she pretends to be in love with Jafar anyway. Jasmine even brings herself to kiss Jafar. Jafar spots Aladdin in Jasmines crown however and all seems lost.
Jasmine is put in a giant hour glass, and Abu runs for the lamp, but Jafar unravels the carpet and turns Abu into a toy monkey. Jafar puts the lamp behind a wall of knives and locks Aladdin in a circle of knives, then sets fire to the knives.
The next thing you know, Jafar has turned himself into a giant snake and he is snapping at Aladdin, who grabs one of the knives and stabs the snake, Jasmine could die at any moment in the sand of the hour glass. Aladdin taunts Jafar by saying that the genie has more power than him. Jafar then wishes for his third and final wish, he wishes that he was an all powerful genie.
The genie turns Jafar into a genie. Aladdin rushes off to set Jasmine free. Aladdin then reminds Jafar that he has to be locked in a lamp. Everything is turned back to normal, and the genie throws Jafars lamp into the cave of wonders.
Aladdin and Jasmine are back together now, but the stupid law is stopping them from getting married, Aladdin has to be a prince. The genie tells them that he will make Aladdin into a prince again if he wants but Aladdin refuses and decides to set the genie free instead. The genie gets really excited and plans to travel the world. He tells Aladdin that he is going to miss him.
The sultan then steps in and makes the law that the Princess can marry whomever she deems worthy. Aladdin and Jasmine finally marry and the genie sets off. Aladdin and Jasmine fly off on the carpet. The sun turns into the genie, and he lifts up the whole picture and exclaims, "made you look!" The sun turns back to normal and that is the end of the film!!!
