                                            EQUIPING A PASTOR
In-country pastor/evangelists are incredibly effective and yet we have the ability to make them even more effective in their work-by providing them with ministry tools that will assist them in
evangelism.

BIBLES
While Bibles are plentiful in the West, a church in Asia is fortunate to have a few among its members. New believers are desperately in need of the Word of God. Bibles can be provided for as little as $2.50 each.

BICYCLES
Many DU supported missionaries spend many hours walking from one village to another. With a bicycle, a pastor/evangelist can visit three to four times as many villages in a day. A heavy-duty bicycle can be provided for $60-$75

TRAINING FOR PASTORS
Most pastor/evangelists have an unmatched determination and dedication to their flocks. They live sacrificially and risk their lives to feed their sheep. One of their biggest needs though is for biblical training. DU provides this crucial in-country training for these pastors. Every thing from basic trainings of a couple days to training that goes over the course of 3-4 years. Your help in this area will go a long way in equipping them for the long haul.

SPONSORSHIP FAQS
Below are answers to common questions asked about sponsoring a native  missionary.
How Long Is The Pastor/Evangelist Supported For?
We will support our pastors for 1.5-2 years depending on their situation. The goal is to support them while they are being developed as pastors and until they can develop a flock that will support their work. At that time, we withdraw their support and give the support that was going to him to another pastor. This also guards against the Church becoming dependant on the West. Too many Christians and Churches have been taught to depend on Western money rather than developing their own flocks and teaching them to give sacrificially. As a result, our good intentions have ruined many overseas bodies.
Can I write to my native missionary?
Because of security reasons and the enormous overhead it would create, we are unable to allow direct correspondence with your native missionaries. Most have little or no knowledge of English, and DU does not have sufficient staff to translate thousands of personal letters. Most importantly, native missionaries must not be viewed as working for a foreign agency, as this could severely hinder their work or endanger them among the non-Christian communities.
How will I receive news from my missionary?
It is our sincere desire to keep you updated on what is happening on the field. We do this through our "Concern" magazine and monthly letters. You will also receive annual updates from your native missionary. These updates will provide you with specific information on your missionary's ministry; the hardships, victories and prayer needs; as well as the latest family news.
Will $35 per month be enough to fully support my missionary?
It takes anywhere from $35/mo. to fully support a native missionary, including family support and ministry expenses. We generally assign several sponsors to each missionary in $35 increments to reach their full support. Distributing a missionary's support in this manner provides for greater prayer support and prevents the complete loss of income in the event a sponsor is forced to discontinue.
How much of my donation will reach the Pastor/Evangelist?
DU sends your gifts to state Bishops who are responsible for distributing the funds among his workers. DU takes out 5% of each donation to cover the costs of administering the projects. That means that 95 cents out of every dollar you give goes directly to the pastor/evangelist.

Our Doctrine
DISCIPLE UNION Ministries' doctrinal statement is based on the following Biblical truths which we regard as essential to the Christian faith and is the common belief and values to which our members, staff and teachers hold.
The Scriptures: That the Scriptures are the inspired Word of God and as such are inerrant in their original writings and are the final authority for the Christian faith.
The Godhead: That the Godhead exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three Persons are the One True God having the same nature and perfection.
The Lord Jesus Christ: In His existence eternally as God; His human incarnation and virgin birth; His death on the Cross as the full and sufficient atonement for human sin; His literal and bodily resurrection from the dead; His present ministry of intercession in heaven and His personal future return to earth to reign sovereignty.
The Holy Spirit: In His existence as the third person of the Godhead; That He convicts mankind of sin, regenerates, baptizes, indwells, seals and sets apart believers into a life devoted to the Lordship of Jesus Christ; That He keeps and empowers believers day by day; That He is the Teacher of the Word of God and the Guide in the life of a believer.
Mankind: That mankind was created innocent and pure, but mankind has fallen into sin through the disobedience of Adam and therefore all human beings are corrupted in body soul and spirit and are in need of redemption.
Salvation: That Salvation is by Grace, a free gift of God not dependent upon works; That it requires repentance, a turning from one's own way to the leading of God alone, and that it is granted through a personal faith in and commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ; That all who receive Jesus Christ as Lord are born again by the Holy Spirit and become inheritors of the Kingdom of God and that true Salvation is manifested in changed lives.
The Future: That Jesus Christ will return to earth visibly to all and in bodily form; That the just will be resurrected in bodily form to their eternal abode in the presence of God; That the unjust will be resurrected in bodily form to judgment and thence to everlasting punishment.
