| [6] To love or not to love is a most fundamental question. To reach out to others and extend oneself ... to leave the security of one's shell and be vulnerable in the world is as basic as living itself. But the rub is that loving entails the real possibility of rejection, of selfish exploitation, and the inevitable pain of separation. But to have loved is far better than never to have loved at all. Lord, given the choice of getting involved in life and its risks, let me choose involvement, because to do otherwise is suicidal.
