It is better to walk with God on the edge of a cliff than to be in the middle of a field, alone.

- An African proverb

The security of being in the middle of a field is illusory because one can also be attacked by wild animals there. The risk of falling from the edge, while united with God, is far better than facing one's fears alone.

Lord, with you, I should never be afraid. Life's risks are many. Trusting people, extending a helping hand, being rejected and misunderstood or being stoned as a prophet, are part of my walking with you. But with you I am truly untouchable and invulnerable. Let me walk with faith always, especially when I do not feel your presence.
