Moving to Canada - Page 2 of 3

Through the Canadian Rockies and Majestic Banff

The quickest route to the Canadian border over Surrey also meant taking the scenic route through the Canadian Rockies. The 1150 mile (1800 km) long trip took me two and a half days. I stopped a lot for taking pictures, about 200 in total, but skipped Fraser Canyon and Kariboo Highway. I had lost too much time in Surrey finding a place to exchange my US dollars. Instead took the faster Coquihalla toll Highway. The road to Banff National Park is spectacular and has something surreal to it, I felt like I was in Lord of The Rings.

Moving on through Banff National Park. The minivan, as always, served as bedroom and bar, but this time on an extra set of wheels. Nancy, the mangos and almonds were never far away !
... ... ...
A scene for Lord of The Rings. The highway takes you along miles and miles of mountain ridges.
... ... ...
It's much different from the European Alps, but I can't quite say why. Lot's of water and rivers but it was too cold to take a dive.
... ... ...
Just a nice pic. Bedtime somewhere on a quiet street or parking. Felt like home with my mattress and down comforter.
