My name is Dionysis, or Dennis, as the Anglo-Saxon version prefers it to be. It so happened that thousands of years ago, Dionysis was one of the Olympus Gods; however, as this page under (de)-construction shows, I am not of that type. Instead, I am a first year MPA / Public Policy student, here at NYU / Wagner School. In 1998, I completed my undergraduate studies at the School of Management and Economy at the University of Crete and, in 2000, attended the American-International Public Affairs Institute of Wagner School.
My initial choice when selecting courses was the UN and International Organizations course influenced in part by my special bond with the United Nations. I consider myself a citizen of the United Nations, which is literally the case since the UN Convention of July 28, 1951 regulates my international legal status. In 1998, I arrived in the United States, which granted me Political Asylum in 1999.
Here in the States I had the opportunity to gain first-hand experience with UN World and Environment, while working in different assignments as a consultant for the UN and US Army Peacekeeping Operations in various parts and conflicts in the Balkans. I am fluent in English, Italian, Greek, Albanian, Arvanitika, and soon I hope in Spanish.
Anyway, I should say no more about myself since, in my culture, one is either God, or just insane, if he begins more than three phrases with “I”, and up till now, I am far from either definition…
