Electronic Products

I have designed or collected a number of electronics projects and gismos. They are mostly related to R/C. The Lil' Beep is not my design but I recreated a PCB since a number of colleagues were interested. The speed controllers are based on an original design by Mike Norton; but I made a number of modifications and variations.
Servo Mixer
This little and simple gismo will mix the commands of two channels to two servos. This can provide V-Tail function or Elevons on a simple transmitter. Very useful on Zagis and similar flying wings. You can now keep your expensive transmitter home and instead bring that old cheap transmitter to the slopes. No worries about potential damage from sand, rain or snow exposure. Perfect for those modern day combat machines.
Speed Controllers
Based on a design a made by Mike Norton, this micro-controller based series of speed controllers have a number of top notch features and low part count. They feature BEC, low voltage cut-off, safe start and high rate. So far, I have 4 models ranging from SP400 use to an all out opto-coupled version. The latest one is a Surface Mount based SP400 speed controller to be soldered on the back of the motor, like a Rondo.
Lil' Beep
This gismo is provide a loud beep at the end of a charge on your peak detector battery charger. Original design by Bob Kopski. I haven't designed anything on this; simply fabricated a few for friends.
Servo Driver
This is the latest addition to my list of projects. The design has a very low part count and uses one of the cheap PIC with A/D ports to read a potentiometer. I have completed the design and the testing. I am completing the documentation.
Futaba 8U and 9C Add-Ons
This CAMPAC Clone adds 8 models to your favorite Futaba 8U and also works with the new 9C transmitter, adding 6 models. It is a little board with an EEPROM that connects to a socket on the transmitter. The newest version with 64K add 33 models to the 8U and 24 to the 9C. There is a companion device to save your CAMPAC to your PC, and a Shift Pulse Inverter letting use all brands of receivers.
Addon Peek Detector
This gismo is similar in concept to the Lil' Beep. There is a good number of people with good old timer based charger - like the older version of the AstroFlight 112 was. That charger has plenty of good characteristics but is simply lacking a peek detection circuit. My plan is to design such a gismo. For myself of course, but I also plan on making a few for friends and others in the same situation. No progress done on this one yet. I wanted to do the Servo Driver first.
