ALBINISM IN PROCELLARIIFORMES
Various degree of albinism has been noted in Calonectris diomedea. The most common are white feathers on the head. Some birds have white primary feathers, wing coverts and tail feathers. A juvenile albino Cory's Shearwater taken off the North East coast of Malta forms part of the National Collections at the Natural History Museum, Mdina.                      (see photo above)
An adult Storm Petrel mist-netted, ringed and
released on Filfla Island in 2001 had extensive
white feathers around the head.
