The Pre-Flood World When God made the world, it was totally different than the one we live in now. There was a great canopy around the earth so that the climate was like a big greenhouse from pole to pole. The canopy is mentioned in Genesis ch 1 verses 6-8."And God said, let there be a firmament (atmosphere) in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters (on the earth) from the waters (canopy around the earth). And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the earth (canopy). And God called the firmament heaven (atmospheric heaven around the earth)." So the big canopy was made of water (some creationists believe it was a clear solid canopy others believe it was a vapor canopy) and looked like a bubble around the earth. The canopy protected the earth from harmful short wave radiation. The canopy also protected the earth from extreme weather. We read in Genesis ch 2 verses 5,6;
" for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth But there went up a mist from the earth, and it watered the ground." The earth was designed inside to provide special growing conditions yielding very nutritious fruits and veggies, and caused them to grow to extreme sizes. In the fossil record there have been fossil plants that look like asparagus stalks that are over 40 ft in height! Dinosaurs and other animals grew to large sizes due to the special environment. We find evidences of these in the fossil record. In Exodus 20 v 11 it says " For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested on the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it." On the sixth day God created the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, and the dinosaurs! The world was perfect! With the canopy around the earth, and a perfect world for growing things; people could live to be over 900 years old! But most of that changed when Adam and Eve sinned and ate of the fruit of the tree, which God had forbid. When Adam and Eve sinned death and aging began and the universe began to wear down, animals began killing each other for meat, and Adam and Eves son Cain killed his brother Abel. As the population grew, people became so evil that there were only eight believers on the earth. Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives. God was angry at all the evil done on the earth, so he told Noah and his family to build an ark (a barge as big as a football field), and to gather two of every animal and seven of some including dinosaurs because he was going to judge the world with a flood. Noah would of taken young dinosaurs not full grown ones.
Genesis ch. 7 verses 11,12 describes the earth melting down inside. It says,
"In the six hundreth year of Noahs life all the fountains of the deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights." Genesis ch. 7 verses 19,20,24 says, "And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth, and all the high hills, that were under the heaven, were covered. Fifteen cubits (approx. 22 to 30 ft) upward did the water prevail; and the mountains were covered. And the waters prevailed upon the earth 150 days." The earth melting down inside caused volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, water inside the earth came up onto the surface and the canopy collapsed. All the animals and dinosaurs were drowned in the flood and many of them were buried in the muddy sediments. They can be found mixed-up in fossil graveyards all over the earth. Where did all the pre-flood lush vegetation go? It was turned into coal and is found in great quantities all over the earth. Coal is full of tree bark, plant remains, spores, seeds and tree stumps in varying amounts. Psalm 104 verse 6-8 describes how the water drained off the continents and into the now deeper ocean basins. It says, "Thou coverest it (the earth) with the deep as with a garment: the waters stood above the mountains. At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away. They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys (water draining off the land) unto the place which thou has founded for them (the ocean basins)."
When the earth began to adjust itself from all the cracking apart the ocean basins sank and the sedimentary layers on the land were pushed up to form new mountain chains. With the collapse of the canopy there were extreme weather conditions which caused an ice age and the cold conditions at the north and south poles. The dinosaurs and other animals, which came off the ark, found a much harsher environment to live in. Over the last 4,300 years most? land dinosaurs as well as other animals have become extinct.
