SS River Murrumbidgee - Official No.156020. 5,030t gross, 2,900 net, 8,525 deadweight.

Built at B.H.P. Whyalla S.A., this vessel was one of the "A" class built to Plan No. RH 1/2. It was ordered 28/09/1943, keel laid 12/01/1944, launched 27/02/1945 and completed 10/07/1945.

The deck machinery consisted of 12 - 5 ton derricks and 1 - 20 ton heavy derrick. Also 13 - 8x12 inch steam winches, including warping winch.
The propulsion machinery - built by Mort's Dock & Engineering Co.Ltd. Sydney - was the triple expansion steam type with an exhaust turbine fitted. Steam was suplied by 2 B&W water tube boilers. Giving an average service speed of 12 knots.

MacDonald Hamilton & Co. were appointed to operate the "River Murrumbidgee" until Oct.1947 when management was transferred to the Australian Shipping Board.
In Feb.1957 the vessel was transferred to the Australian National Line until Jan.1963 when it was sold through Mitsubishi Shoji Kaisha to Amakasu Sangyo Kisen K.K. for demolition.
Shortly afterwards the vessel left Sydney, with "River Loddon", in tow of tug Nissho Maru. And demolition commenced at Osaka in Mar.1963.
