The Elder Root was the nyphai's leader. Being the oldest and most knowledgacle nyphai, she led the forest in all matters from rules and how to live and eventually to their destruction. The Elder Root was never kind to Neelahn because she too was blinded by her eyes but as she dies, the Elder Root understands just why Neelahn is the way she is. She dies with the final words of forgiveness on her lips, and dies content.
An Elder Root of the nyphai has many responsibilities as a forest leader. She must carry all the memories of the nyphai and their past, however she never did learn from their mistakes. Negotiations and alliances are made through her when dealing with other beings or races. She is the authority and only elder nyphai may question her. Her position is, as it may appear, a dictatorship however the nyphai care nothing for this.
When the Elder Root faded before Neelahn's eyes, she spoke words of greatness to the young nyphai. Not understanding any of he words or predictions, Neelahn left never to return. She had been so young at the time she did not sense the burden she had undertook. She knew nothing of the power and energy delivered to her at death's final kiss. She never knew she would be able to give the nyphai a second chance. |
