Welcome to the life of Grace Murray Hopper.
Grace was born Grace Brewster Murray and was known as Amazing Grace to some
of her co-workers. After marring Vincent Foster
Hopper she changed her name to Grace Murray Hopper, keeping her original last
name by making it her middle name. Vincent died in World War II and they
never had the opportunity for children. Grace is known for her
remarkable, award winning work on the Mark computers, including the Mark I,
Mark II, and the Mark III. She was the third person ever to program the
Mark I and throughout her life she programmed many other applications to aid computers in becoming the new
technology.
