The Depression in Later Life Interest
Group (DILLIG) was established in 1999 by a small group of individuals
who sought to develop strategies which would improve the life of older
people with depression. Since commencing its activities, the network
of individuals has doubled enabling direct links to approximately
15 organisations. The group is also actively seeking involvement of
individuals who have experienced the impact of depression on their
lives.
In its first year of operation DILLIG
developed a brochure, ran a seminar for health professionals and produced
a resource document summarising sources of help in South Australia
for people with depression.
Participants hope to further the understanding
of health professionals, older people and their families and the broader
community by pursuing a number of initiatives over the next three
years. If you are interested in helping, please contact the group.
DILLIG is an informal group which has
no funding base. It consequently relies on the voluntary labour of
individual participants and a number of organisations which have contributed
and who support the participation of staff.
