Nevada
A small number of shield bearing figures are found in southern Nevada, primarily in the Lake Mead/Clark County area. These figures represent the westernmost distribution of shield bearers in the dataset. High concentrations of rock art surrounding these locations like Atlatl Rock and Grapevine Canyon suggest that other, unpublished shield bearers may also occur in southern Nevada. These figures are geographically isolated from eastern shield figures due to the lack of published examples in southwestern Utah. As further research becomes available, I suspect that shield figures will extend from southern Nevada into western Utah and Arizona. To date only 3 shield figures are currently listed in this database, each frtom a different site. A fourth shield bearer is currently in the process of being included in the dataset. If you have any information or are aware of any other shield figures from Nevada, I'd love to hear about them.
