| Shield bearing figures are found throughout the state of Montana, and are one of the dominant motifs in in the south central portions of the state. Much of the early discussion involving shield bearing warriors involved the figures described by William Mulloy from Pictograph Cave (24YL1), which were compared with figures from the Uinta Fremont region of Utah. A total of 50 shield figures are currently listed in this database from seven sites. Many more figures are planned. Because of the number of graphics involved, shield figures from Montana will be displayed in sets of 50 figures per page.
