Technology Vendors

Digikey Corporation - my most trusted parts vendor. Digikey stocks a huge variety of electronic components at near-surplus cost. The site is one of the best ones around in terms of providing part datasheets; making it extremely easy to 'learn the product' before you buy. A very well-documented place.

Jameco Electronics - another highly-trusted vendor. In addition to components, Jameco sells a miniture desk drill called Octopus which I used to build most of the E-series systems. They also stock a few other hard-to-find items like ultrasonic transducers and several LCD graphics displays.

Tanner's Electronics - this locally-run surplus shop is probably one of the most complete walk-in electronics retailers in Texas. They're very well-known for their robotics supplies. If you're ever in the Dallas area, look these guys up!

ATMEL Corportation - these guys manufacture the AVR microcontroller. Also check out their Smart RF and DataFlash ROM product lines.

Technology Information

Electro Tech Online - a friendly technical forum dedicated to providing community help and advice on subjects involving electronics, robotics, audio systems, microcontrollers, power distribution, and technology in general.

AVR Freaks.net - A world-famous site dedicated to ATMEL's line of RISC microcontrollers. Check out their "Academy" and "Forum" pages. You can also get information on ATMEL's 8051 processors or other devices.

Dallas Robotics Club - a locally-based group. They specialize in autonomous bots. This site contains several robot-related tutorials and news stories.

All About Circuits - features an e-textbook dedicated to electronics tutorials of various difficulty levels. Subjects range from Ohm's Law to active filters.

Seattle Robotics - home of the famous Encoder Newsletter on robotics projects. The group sponsors several robotics competitions in the Renton, WA area.

Security and Military Systems

Smart Home - a retailer for home automation equipment. Also features secuity systems, intrustion detection, X-10 devices, and lighting equipment.

Global Security - tons of information and writings on military news and special programs. Also features military vehicles and munitions specs.

Army-Technology - an arsenal of information on international defense and law enforcement projects. The site features additional sites run by SPG Media on subjects including naval technology, pharmaceutical sciences, and many others. There is even a sub-category dedicated to autonomous bot projects.

Journal of Electronic Defense - a mecca of sorts for all things related to defense technologies and electronic counter-measures.

Graphing Calculators

United TI - a graphing calculator-oriented site. The UTI forum is a great place for intermediate and advanced programmers to get advice, show off new projects, or even chat about the news.

TI Calc - the premire place for everything TI calculator-related. Features a huge archive of downloadable games programmed in both BASIC and ASSEMBLY. If games aren't your style, there are also math and science programs as well.

Karma .org - an excellent tutorial site for TI-82 assembly programming. Covers everything from binary to maskable interrupts.

The Guide - an excellent tutorial devoted to TI-86 video game design. The lessons are split into beginner, intermediate, and advanced categories.

Just for Fun

The Onion - the (in)famous satire news site. If you haven't heard of them yet, I don't know what to say.

Fark.com - nonsense at its best! Catch up on bizzare events as they happen worldwide!

Ebaum's World - an excellent flash gaming site. Check out thier all-flash rendition Sonic Advance 2!
