“Joey stand still!” Toria
reprimanded. “How am I supposed to fit you properly if you don’t?” Joey winked
and went completely still. Toria couldn’t help laughing. Joey was too much
sometimes. The last few days had
gone by really well. With the help of the other two seamstresses, she had
been able to get a lot of the work done. Another couple of days and they
would be completely done the outfits. And the guys had been so
easy to get along with. They had joked, teased, and made everything
comfortable for her. She knew they didn’t have to befriend her but they had
and she was grateful. It had started the day
after the meeting. She and the other
seamstresses looked over the swabs of material they would be using for the
designs. Toria bent over unaware that her butt was pointing towards the door. All of a sudden, she heard
someone call out to her, “Toria. Looking good. Very good.” She turned around to
see all the guys leering at her. Toria looked at them
unsure of what to say. She felt that maybe she should be annoyed that they
had been looking at her ass but she was too amused at the almost comical
expressions on their faces to reprimand them. “Were you guys looking at my
butt?” She asked. They looked at her
innocently. Joey gasped. “Us? Look at your butt? Never! Nope.” She couldn’t hold back
her laughter. Joey caught his chest
and fell against the doorframe. “Oh. She laughs at us.” Justin raised a brow,
“Us? She’s only laughing at you!” She turned to Justin
and smirked, “Sorry to disillusion you but I’m laughing at all of you.” There had been a brief
pause before they all started laughing. From that time on, she
and the guys had been having a good time together. While Joey, Chris and JC
were being fitted, Justin and Lance sat at the corner of the room waiting for
their turn. One of the seamstresses,
Janet, smiled at JC as she finished him and turned to Lance. “It’s your turn
Lance.” Toria was almost done
Joey and that would mean she would have to fit Justin. She had gotten over
her initial embarrassment and had been treating Justin the same as all the
other guys, but she still felt a little uncomfortable around him. Not only
because of the tumble, which from the looks of things he didn’t even realize
it had been her, but also because Justin just being around her made her
nervous. She got the material off
Joey. “You’re done!” Joey grinned. “Is that
all for today?” “Yeah that’s it. You guys
won’t actually have to come in again until the outfits are finished.” “Cool!” He turned to JC.
“Come with me to get some food before Paul comes and makes us do actual work
or something.” JC smiled and waved
before he was dragged out the door. Toria looked over at
Justin. “Ready?” He nodded and walked over
to her. He didn’t say much as she made brief notes about what needed to be
done and fixed the material on his tall frame. Suddenly he looked at her
and smiled. She paused. Uh, where had that come from? “So,” he began. “We’ve
met before the meeting, right?” Toria bent her head so he
wouldn’t see the expression on her face. Oh, shit! “I don’t know! Have you?” “You were at Fornica
a little while back?” He said it like it was a question, but they both knew
it was more of a statement. Shit! “Oh right! Right. Umm.
Yeah.” “So when you called me
who did you think I was?" He asked bluntly. She decided that it was time
to just be upfront with him. “Actually Justin, I didn’t think you were
anyone. I don’t know why I called after you.” Justin was taken aback.
He didn’t know what answer he had expected but that hadn’t been it. He didn’t
know what had made him bring up the mall incident but he had been thinking
about it ever since the meeting. He could have kicked
himself when he only said “Oh” in response. Toria smiled a little at
his response. She was actually kind of glad that he had brought it up. It had
been on her mind and at least now, she could try to forget about it. She
thanked him silently for not bringing up the embarrassing fall. “Quite a little tumble
you had there.” Justin said in amusement. Shit! She had jinxed herself. “Uh…Well…Just shut up
Justin!” She said finally. Justin smiled and didn’t
say anything for the rest of the fitting. When they had all done and the guys
were on their way out, Justin winked at her. When he and the other guys left,
she and the other seamstresses got back to work but Toria couldn’t stop the
tiny fluttering at the pit of her stomach at the thought of Justin. Shit! *** It was video day and
everyone was frantically trying to get everything in order. Victoria smiled
as she leaned on one of the refreshment tables. She and the girls had
finished everything hours ago, so she was completely relaxed. Now it was up
to everyone else to get the video together. Lisa walked over to her.
She was nervous, Toria could tell. “Oh My God Toria! Holy crap! Holy Crap!!!” Toria burst out laughing
at her friend’s hysteria. Lisa frowned. “Are you
laughing at me? Are you?” Toria, still laughing,
shook her head. “You are! Damn you! If
you were about to go film an *Nsync video that was going to be played all
over the world you would be freaking out too.” Toria sighed. “I’m sorry
Lisa! But you shouldn’t worry. It’ll be ok.” “I hope so!” Lisa said
twisting her hands. Toria took in her outfit.
She was wearing a black lace shirt with a blue bikini top underneath and
black leather pants. The clothes complemented the guys’ outfits and the video
synopsis. The video was for Just
Got Paid and it consisted of the guys getting off “work” and getting
ready to go clubbing. It was a basic people dancing in a club video but it
was bright and funky and it would be a fun last video for NSA. Toria had designed funky
club wear for the guys. She had mixed club wear with formal wear to get the
style she had wanted for the video and everyone had loved the ideas. She had
thrown together faded black jean, yellow silk and black pinstripes for Joey.
Black jersey v-neck and tarnished brown leather for Lance. Navy rayon and
leather and ripped, splattered and faded jean for JC. Rich deep red and black
leather straps with dark ribbed jean for Chris. And all black silk, suede and
leather for Justin. “Hey, you look great!”
Toria said to Lisa. Lisa smiled. “Thanks!
Paul said that I could keep the clothing too.” “Nice.” Lisa nodded, fingering
the sleeve of the lace shirt. “I better get going, they probably want me to
be doing something productive.” Toria smiled as she
watched her friend walk across the set. She looked at the refreshment table
and poured herself some coffee, added some sugar and cream and grabbed a
donut. She then propped herself on the edge of the table and waited for them
to begin production. *** Four hours later, Toria
was in the same spot. Well almost the same spot. She had found herself a
chair to sit on and had been watching the progress of the video for the last
few hours. Lisa bounded over to her.
“We’re done for the day. We’ll have to tune in tomorrow. Same bat time, same
bat channel.” She said grinning. “Well someone’s in a good
mood.” Toria noted. “Yeah…well the guys are fun
and Joey’s been flirting with me all day,” Lisa said squealing. Toria lifted a brow. Ah!
Lisa had a very big crush on Joey. “Well, well, well…” Lisa rolled her eyes. “Oh
get a life. It was harmless. He probably has no interest in me at all.” “Whatever you say!” Lisa was about to argue
when Paul walked over to them. “Hey guys! Victoria, I just came over to tell
you that you don’t need to come in tomorrow. The outfits are perfect and the
other two girls will be here if there needs to be any changes.” Toria was suddenly
deflated. So, they didn’t need her anymore. She shouldn’t have felt so sad
about it, but she did. She knew that she wouldn’t be seeing *Nsync again now
that it was over. Paul looked as if he was
waiting for Victoria to say something. “Uh, yeah. That’s fine then.” She
finally said. Paul smiled. “Thanks for
all your hardwork. I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more about you in the
future. See you tomorrow Lisa!” And with those words, he left. “I’m sorry Tor!” Lisa
said, noting the sad look on her friends face. “Heh! It’s ok. It was
fun!” She looked at Lisa seriously, “Would it be silly if I said, I’m going
to miss those guys?” Lisa squeezed Toria’s
shoulder. “Not at all. I’m going to miss them too.” Her face brightened. “But
hey at least we’ll get to see them in concert this weekend.” “Oh right!” Toria had
completely forgotten about the tickets. “Let’s go get some ice
cream!” Lisa said slipping her arm into Toria’s. But before they slipped
through the door to leave, she glanced back one more time at the set and
noticed Justin talking to Chris. Her heart fluttered at the sight of him. She sighed. Oh, Shit! |
